    • MTL in primary school

Hello! We are Indian PR family. Planning to enroll my child in local primary school in 2026. He is 2019 born. He has learnt mandarin from N1 until K1. Now in K2 is in a new kindergarten where he is learning Hindi now. His Mandarin is quite good as he has learnt it from young. Hindi is still at very basics N1 level…I am confused whether I should choose mandarin for my child as MTL in primary school or Hindi. If we take Hindi the choice of schools are limited. Else will have to attend on weekends. But a bit worried if Mandarin will become too difficult as the years progress, as we are not native speakers. We will engage a tutor for sure. Is there any means where he attends Hindi on weekends and Manadrin during school period and then decide maybe by end of P1 or P2 which one to take for PSLE?

Hello! My son(2019 born) will be registering for P1 next year. We are PRs and I am trying to figure out which school to apply to. We live in a rented unit and it’s within 1KM of popular schools only. So I believe PR kids don’t stand a chance there. Our lease will be ending this year , so will.be moving to another unit next year, near school for Phase 2c. How can I get the information about which school can PR get into in Phase 2C and is still considered good school. Can help me understand pls?

Phase 2c for \"good\" schools are typically snapped up by SC<1km via balloting. If I were a PR, I may consider St Gabriel if stay <1km.
Thank you for suggesting St. Gabriel. I will look into it. Looking for recommendations for schools, as I am not much aware of the local schools here. Hoping to gain some insights from here! 🙂

      Question:
      1. Child - M / F ?
      2. What is 'good enough'?
      3. What exactly are you looking for? Affiliation? Location? Single / mixed gender?
      Hi,
      1)Child - M.
2)By good enough I mean good PSLE results maybe or maybe popular school. I am also not sure, cos I know that every school is a good school teaching the same syllabus.
3)I am ok with boys school or mixed gender. Location as I mentioned can be flexible except maybe not very north of SG like woodlands and neither too west like Jurong. Ok with the east like Bedok, Pasir Ris.

Hi, we are a PR family. I am quite confused about how to choose a school for my child, which has a chance for PRs to get in in Phase 2C. We live in a rented apartment, so I am not tied to any location yet. So just want views on which schools are good enough and has chances of getting in for PRs, so that I can plan my lease renewal next year accordingly. Currently I live in Newton but understand that the schools within 1KM (ACS, SJI) from our current place go to citizens.
