May I know whether there are any parents of P1 or P2 kids here who have enrolled in Morning Star student care centre for next year? The school bus co told us that they will not send my P1 daughter to Morning Star but to the school and she has to find her way to Morning Star herself. If any parents of older kids have been through this before, appreciate also your advice on this. Thanks.

Yes, the official school bus will only sending to the school. You can check with Morning Star for the contact of another private bus operator who cater for Morning Star students. I'm not sure what's the arrangement for those taking 2 way but for my boy who's taking the return trip; when he's in P1/P2, the bus will wait for him outside the school gate after dismissal. For upper primary, the bus will pick them up at Morning Star. Is not those regular bus but rather those mini-van type of bus.

my boy joined the football cca... one thing good is that they accept the child even they may not play the game well... πŸ˜„ haha... probably that's why the football cca is not one of the \"hot\" cca as they didn't win competition. But is alright as long as our kid enjoy themselves.

There are 3 students care around Holy

      1) Graceland Student Care Pte Ltd (Hougang CC) http://www.graceland.sg/index.html
      2) Careland Student Care (Blk 311)
      3) Morning Star Community Services (Opposite the school, the church) http://www.morningstar.org.sg/

      Hi,

Out of the above 3 student care centres, any idea which one is good & especially they do provide tuition.

      Thanks in advance.

My boy is with Morning Star. The location is great as is just opp the school & they'll also bring the students to cross the road to the school entrance.

No tuition provided but they do allocate homework time where the students is suppose to do their homework(either from the school or assignments from the parents themselves). Another plus point is that they've a larger premise compared to the rest & the kids would enjoy the outdoor as there's a field within the center.

Yes, I’ve heard from my boy too who told me those in his class with maths below 70 in P2 will stay in the same class whereas those above will join another class.

For certain day, he’ll need to bring along his maths text & workbooks with him during recess as he’ll join in the other class after recess.

    • RE: HOW TO MOTIVATE MY GIRL TO PUT IN MORE EFFORT IN HER STUDIES

      hello Chenonceau,

I'm keen in your book as I do sincerely believe the importance of the child to be self motivated if he/she want to do well in their study... but alas how many such children will be so automatic??

My 8 yrs old boy need quite a lot pushing to get his work done.. he always wanted to complete his tasks fast(which results in careless mistakes) so he can finished quickly & go play... DW is pretty frustrated in coaching him after work.. He got bad sitting habit too... giving him a good set of ergonomic table & chair & yet he didn't want to sit properly. Both of us have been telling him off but it doesn't seem to get into his head... he has also such care-less attitude.. :frustrated: I know some of these traits are not uncommon in kids this ages but nevertheless, is still so frustrating not to be able to rectify them.

Hope your book would address some of the above issues... thanks.

    • RE: Travel: China - Shanghai

Thanks Dnls_mum for your detailed advice... I do read that the best time to visit are indeed in spring or autumn... but too bad these period are out till perhaps 9-10 yrs later if we're to travel without the kid. Didn't really fancy winter too as the days are short, need to bring winter clothing which means heavier luggage to lug around if we go F&E πŸ˜“ ... sigh.

Your suggested itinerary is indeed good enough to take up more than a couple of days in HZ... not sure if the small boy will be interested in Impression Westlake show though.. he probably wouldn't understand it & may be bored..

May switch out to a nearer & less harsher weather place like Vietnam(Halong Bay??)... still undecided on where to go :?

To my boy, he just wanna able to take plane & stay hotels πŸ˜‚

    • RE: Travel: China - Shanghai

      Hi Dnls_mum,

Am keen to do a F&E trip(small family w a 8 yrs old boy) to Hangzhou & Shanghai but can only travel after 1st week of Dec. Is Dec an ok time to visit? If we're going, it'll be our 1st holiday trip to China... Beside Westlake, any other good recommendation?

Seem not much choice of direct flight to HZ except for Jetstar with timing which i don't fancy... so better to take to Shanghai & then take a train to HZ?

Wanted F&E as i've heard that package tours to China are very hectic while we prefer more leisure pace & not changing too many hotels.

Thanks for your advice in advance πŸ˜„

      Moods:
Does anybody know whether we need to sew the name tag onto the PE Tshirts as well or just on the school uniform?

Both required.. better sewed them on as the iron-on don't stick well & will dropped off after a couple of washes.
