      .

Isn't the new points system similar to how O level result is computed for JC admission? Based on past experience, the JC admission seems to work rather well, so I am not too pessimistic for upcoming change.

By using results of 4-20 points to spread over to 20 or even 16 JCs is totally different if try to spread over to 150 sec schs.

It works well for JAE to JC doesn't mean it will works well on JAE to S1

Completely agreed .This is not going to serve intended purpose to reduce stress for the kids.It is goinv to add more fuel as kids need to excel really well if need to go top school.

With this new PSLE scoring system. It may solve one problem but at the same time created more problems.

Using bell curve to spread 4-20 pointers to16 JCs is acceptable. But how can simply apply this 4-20 points system for JAE to Sec 1?

Nothing is perfect but the current PSLE scoring it has been working fine after so many years by using bell curve to spread 188-260+ pointers to 150 sec sch for express steam
It might not turn into surprise if this happens in long run many secondary schools might need to merge or close down like what is happening with JCs.

If RI is THE school one desires to go to,should still put as 1st choice to try,as for now it’s still entirely by Merit...
Whereas for 2021 psle batch,1st batch no t-score & also 1st batch school allocation NOT entirely by merit & order of choice is taken into consideration(meaning a person with lower score but put school A as 1st choice, will get in 1st..& if u put school A as your 2nd choice but score better,u may not get school A if vacancies already filled up... :stompfeet: )

Sadly,My son will be affected...1st batch kena all these drastic changes..&actually creating much more stress..why does MOE claim that the changes reduce stress?!? :siao:
Haiz!!! Wish we had “created” my son 2-3months earlier(he is born in mid Feb 😢 )

I thought order of choice only applies among tied scores. So how will a person with lower score but put school A as 1st choice get in first? :scratchhead:

But from 2021 the range of points we get is very narrow compared to the range now.
there may be ard 1000s kids with same points ,so it will get really difficult. Many kids might have all 6 choices not available for them.
The new change is going to make it more and more difficult for kids.

Now kids may be pushed to get distinctions in CCA to get DSA.

Hi how far the chances if my DS is short of 1 point. We are planning to appeal for VJC and he is short of 1 point.

      Zero.
      Must meet COP.

If it is 1 point..there might be a very slim chance ..just try if school accept appeal .some schools do accept appeals for 1 pt below cop..if accepts submit and hope for best though result might not be positive
