Nice! I also use my oven more often now. Discovered that marinated chicken legs are very juicy when oven baked! Much more worth my money than chicken wings.[/quote]
That’s yummy. Can share the recipe? I have been struggling to find quick and tasty recipe for my family.

I am joining this club. I sent off my helper home yesterday. Trying not to get a new helper since I work at home. There is a school bus to send my boy to school next year. I hire a maid mainly for my MID boy who is coming to 13 years old next year. I feel so sad every time he told me that he misses Kakak. They had quite close interaction to each other. Kakak sent him to school everyday. Kakak rode scooter and he rode bicycle. They were like siblings. My boy spoke more to my helper too. In my deep heart, I know that my boy has to learn to be independent. Helper is not our family member. It's easier to train him to be without Kakak now rather than 2-3 years later. Any mother who has special needs kids going through this? Can PM me how you overcome the initial life without helper? TIA.

I’m glad u’re trying to go w/o helpers. Wld be challenging but I think I’ve made a strong brave step fwd!

Wld hv been better if u cld hv transferred yr heller to ano Spore family tho. Not easy for some families to find experienced helpers & I’m sure yet young helper Wld need continual income. Hope she can be contacted & get ano job for a Spore family here

I will not be so brave to make the big step if she still want to work in Singapore. I would have renewed her contract instead. So far, the helpers who worked with me returned home for good i.e. marriage, etc.

    • RE: After cancelling Maid's WP, how many days is allowed to stay in Singapore?

My helper had returned back to Indonesia yesterday. I requested for health certificate from local GP for her to bring back to Indonesia. The Indonesia immigration did not look at the health certificate at all. She only need to go for swab test on the next day. Just sharing to members here who intend to send helper back to Indonesia. This information might be useful.

I am about to cancel my maid's work permit. I read the information in MOM regarding the requirement of departure dates is confusing. Anybody can help me? I write to MOM but there is no reply.

      https://www.mom.gov.sg/passes-and-permits/work-permit-for-foreign-domestic-worker/cancel-a-work-permit
Buy a direct air ticket to the international airport in the helper's home country, nearest to her hometown:
You must pay for the air ticket and it must include check-in luggage.
The departure date must be within 2 weeks from the cancellation.

      https://www.mom.gov.sg/covid-19/sending-workers-home#ensure-your-workers-have-legal-stay-until-the-date-of-their-flights
Flights are more than 14 days from work pass expiry\tRegister online to extend their stay.

The first link mentioned maid must return back to hometown within 2 weeks after cancellation. The second link mentioned to extend stay for more than 14 days from work pass expiry. Is it allowed to let maid stay more than 14 days after cancellation? If we cancel work permit more than 1 day after expired, will there be any penalty?

      TIA.

It is advisable for you to clarify personally with a call to MOM.

You need to u’stand the context of detention. If u’re cancelling WP for repatriation, then it shld follow strictly to get her out of Spore within 14 days.

I believe the extension of 14 days are to cater for a situation during this COVID situation where flights may be drastically reduced fr pre-COVID times.

The only other extension I’m familiar with is when I’ve alr applied for a replacement helper, who either hv not arrived or I need a time cross for handover of duties. I’ve only used this twice for my Mynmar girls but nvr had experience with any other helper’s fr other countries.

Once you cancel a WP, you MUST hv a repatriation air-ticket with check-in luggage inclusive. It is our responsibility as employers owise we risks being held to tasks by MOM. So, my suggestion is you check available air flights first before cancellation of WP. That’ll be neatest. Pls also ensure you see her go thro the immigration with the CISCO guards at the departure hall. If she disappears without going in, any local expenses will be borne by employers notwithstanding the forthcoming charges of not having properly repatriated the FDW.

Pls verify facts with MOM. Hope you’ve all your paperwork neatly closed. Take care

Thank you for your reply. There is an option to select the date when we cancel the WP. The date available for selection is only up to 14 days. I have cancelled her WP and purchase the air ticket. The next thing, I find the requirement of travelling back to Indonesia is not clear. Will the airline require additional test from local GP for my helper to be deemed fit for travel? I hope there is a member here whose helper returned back to Indonesia recently can share her experience to me.

My maid is due for her home leave. Anybody knows the procedure of sending back home during this covid19 outbreak period? Do we need to get approval from MOM? How to arrange for the quarantine after coming back from Indonesia? TIA.

    • RE: KTKLN for indo maid?

I plan to bring my maid to Indonesia for holiday with us. My maid has been working for 1 year with us. I know that it is required to have a KTKLN for her to return back to Singapore from Indonesia.

      1. Anybody knows whether her contract need to be attested by Indonesian Embassy for KTKLN application in Indonesia?

      2. Is it still required to endorse with Singapore address at the back of her passport?

      Thanks.

    • RE: Swimming Coach for Special Needs

My son had a few swimming lesson with the coach but stopped since the coach will not longer teach at the designated pool anymore.

He is now 7 years old. He does not feel comfortable to immerse his whole head into water yet.

His coach told me that I should wait until my son turns 11 years old to start him on swimming lesson.

My son is keen to learn swimming and I don’t want to wait for several years. Is there any swim coach recommendation at west?

      Thanks.
