I don't know why the schools do that...how can a child be in school all day and still be expected to do homework? It is utterly ridiculous. My DS1 has supplementary 3 out of 5 days and I already think it is way too excessive. Hang in there chloecube's DS! :hugs:

i pity him that is why i told him to take a cab (our house is 30 min away from school)back daily instead of spending time in bus. at least he can get some rest.
told him to hang in there for another 2.5 months
i bring him out for dinner to relex his mind and also weekend, i will squeeze in a few hrs for play time.

If let's say prelim score 4 A Star. How does the school calculate the aggregate? If by magic aggregate is 260, can the student use this aggregate to enter sec sch? PSLE day will think something not to take PSLE.

If have chicken pox --- still have to sit for PSLE
If have dengue --- still have to sit for PSLE
If have fever --- still have to sit for PSLE
If have broken arm --- still have to sit PSLE
If admitted into hospital --- still have to sit for PSLE

Should not think how to avoid PSLE. It's not a good example for the child.

The motorist started 2h later than the van driver. The van driver would have driven for 2h -> let's call this the \"head start\" distance.
In order for the motorist to catch up with the van driver, the motorist would have to make up for the head start distance -> that is the extra distance covered by the motorist when he overtook the van driver is the head start distance.

So, when the motorist overtook the van at 5pm, the van driver has driven for 5h (from 12pm to 5 pm) and the motorist 3h (from 2pm to 5pm)

extra distance covered by the motorist in 3h
= 3h x 28 km/h = 84 km --> this is the head start distance which is the distance covered by the van driver in 2h

so, speed of the van driver = 84 km/ 2h = 42 km/h

motorist's speed = 42 km/h + 28 km/h = 70 km/h

distance from C to D
= distance from C to point where motorist overtook van driver (at 5pm) + 80 km
= 70 km/h x 3 h + 80 km
= 290 km

alternatively, we can also use speed ratio/time ratio concept to work out the van driver speed and motorist speed.

When the motorist caught up with the van driver, both of them covered same distance and
the time taken by motorist : van driver = 3 : 5
so, motorist's speed : van driver's speed = 5u : 3u
since motorist's speed is 28 km/h faster,
2u --> 28 km/h, 1u --> 14 km/h
van driver's speed = 14 km/h x 3 = 42 km/h
motorist's speed = 14km/h x 5 = 70 km/h... with these speeds, the total distance from C to D can be worked out as above.
