My child is in BSS Sec1 Express this year. Always feel PSLE is the worst period - to face the exam pressure and need to attend supplemtary classes 3 times a week
. Both child & mum just need to endure till he entered a new chapter - going to Sec School.
4 months gone and I am still not certain if i should start worrying or take it easy for my child. I see him spending more time doing teamwork projects (i.e Music project, Geography etc) & CCA after school rather than returning home early doing homework assignment and have a good rest. The time spent in school can be as long as 10 hours a day (7am - 5/6pm). Is this a healthy sign or common? By the time, my child came home he was exhausted (knock out before dinner served at 7pm), limited time to rest not to mention revising.
Sec Schooler life seems so hectic and worse than me as a working adult. I still get a proper lunch meal at work. Any sharing or tips to manage as a 1st timer Sec School Mum’s expectation? My boy has no complaints but the Mum is going nut… are parents from other nation schools across SG facing this too?

Has your child been penalized for bad handwriting? I am asking as I’ve concern if the teacher has informed and made each & every pupil aware mark will be deducted even when answer is correct. Will they be misled when correct answer given?
My P1 child got a cross for the question 3+5=8 (8 was not well written) & I pointed that out. He asked if 8 is not the answer what should it be.
Same for Chinese, in his Han yu ping yin 听写, the CL teacher penalised my son when she couldnt see the tiny tail at the top of letter "r". My son claimed his pencil is not sharp, he wrote with tiny tail but teacher found not visible enough.
Is penmarkship really important to have marks deducted. Can share your experience if any.
