I would suggest that you check out the school by observing the kids during dismissal time. Personally, I’m not keen
St Hilda’s is out of the equation for anyone staying out of 1km as the ballot is only for those staying within 1km.

Back then, have a friend (a father) who signed up for the Parent Volunteer (PV) programme inside St Andrews Junior primary school under Phase 2B, so that his son can get a place into SAJS 2014 Primary 1, then.
My friend (the father) got selected, as a PV. However, in the process of doing (carrying out) his PV duties for more than one year there, week after week, in the end, he decided not to enrol his son anymore inside this primary school. In the end, he chose to enrol his son into another primary school instead, inspite of having clocked up the number of PV hours required, in SAJS. He just let his Phase 2B (PV) opportunity lapse, on that Phase 2B day he was due to register his K2 son, into this primary school.
Do u have any friend as a PV, inside this school ? You can go & ask them, what they observed inside this primary school. When u are a PV, u can see some things, which outsiders do not know (nor see).
Don't just look at the lower primary level ( 1 and 2 ) only, just because your son is entering into P1 admission. But, also look at the Upper primary level : P5, P6. After all, once your son is admitted in, he will study all the way for entire 6 years, from P1 to P6, right ?

I was in St Andrew's for 10 years, from 1973-1982. Long time ago, yes. From my point of view, the primary school section was worth the trouble, and the secondary school was average. I'm sure things would have changed by now.
Not sure if it’s a right place to ask; Just wondering if there’s any parents can share more about St Andrew’s Junior School.
I put my child in for waitlist and intend to enrol his younger sibling as due to the affiliation
However, I’ve been seeing some comments in a Facebook group recently that there are some disciplinary issues with SAJS students . Though I understand every school will have their fair share of bullies etc. but for parents to name the school, I was wondering what could it be. I’ve tried asking in the group but to no avail.

Hi Starxyz, thank you for your advice. Perhaps my dilemma is whether to risk my 2C chance for SAP. Is SAP really good?
Mum_of_CS\" post_id=\"2129579\" time=\"1708625283\" user_id=\"204124:You’ll have to ask yourself if you are okay with the backup plan? Because there aren’t many choices for the backup plan; either Yumin, East Spring, Tamp North. Others, likely need to ballot within 1km eg. tamp pri & Junyuan.
Hi! I need some advice for my daughter’s P1 registration this year.
I am a SC and hesitating between these two schools.
- Poi Ching (within 1km)
- Junyuan (1 to 2km)
I failed in my PV application for Poi Ching last April. I have been feeling very troubled since then as I know Poi Ching required balloting for <1km every year.
I had personally checked out Tampines Pri & Junyuan Pri by hanging around during dismissal and speaking to parents outside the schools. To my surprise, I pretty like Junyuan Primary and seriously thinking of choosing it for 2C (1-2km, but good chance to get it).
However, I keep feeling torn between Poi Ching and Junyuan. I feel that if I choose Junyuan without even giving a shot for Poi Ching at 2C, I am denying my girl a chance to study in a coveted SAP school. On the other hand, if I am unsuccessful in the ballot for Poi Ching, I can only go for Yumin Primary (1-2km) in 2Cs, which I am not so excited for. (I am not keen on Angsana & Tampines North too.)
Background:
🔹 Is my girl good in Chinese?
I am not sure how to define ‘good’, but at least she can hold a simple conversation with me in Mandarin, read her Berries book entirely by herself and write Chinese words neatly (due to my drilling). Does she like Chinese? I would say ‘At least for now, maybe because Berries is fun’.
🔹 Balloting Stats:
Poi Ching - 2C (ballot for <1km)
Junyuan - 2C (safe for all), 2Cs (ballot for <1km, which means no chance for me)
Which one should I choose for 2C? Risk or be safe?

I’ve not come across any Methodist church offering letter of endorsements for P2B.
With Methodist churches, u’ll need to be a member before u can request for a letter to support your child’s primary school enrollment into a Methodist affiliated school.
For new members to a Methodist church, u’ll hv to attend the full membership course, which typically last almost a year & either be baptized thereafter or go thro a Confirmation of Membership (not ano baptism) with the Methodist church & after u’ve written in to yr previous church to release u for transferring church membership fr the church u previously acquire membership.
In this respect, it’s good to prepare at least a year ahead to complete all requirements of the Methodist church u’re seeking membership from.
Irrespective of a letter for yr child’s enrollment, u might still need to be within 1km to secure a place under 2B esp if there is a over application of applicants vis-a-vis the number of places available.
Hope abv info helps.
Generally, is it any Methodist church leader can endorse the letter for phase 2B? Understand it the requirement for each church is different. My husband is Baptised but not under any denomination. Would he need to go through another round of baptism?
I’m planning way ahead to get my daughter into PLMGS - saw somewhere that PV is no longer available and we stay more than 2km away from the school 🥲

Based on what i have heard from friends’ sharings, the schools will only interview those kids who enter at P3/4 age. For those who enter at P1 age, usually all the school cares about is: any siblings already in the school? Do u live within walking distance? Those 2 groups get the top priority at P1 waitlist.[/quote]
Hi all! Just wondering if there’s anyone who manage to transfer into any SAP schools or SAJS in recent years?
I’ve put my child into a few wait list but I would like to know what are the chances. Understand that it’s pretty much about luck.
Also, i saw that SAJS may have interview. Anyone has any experience to share?
My child is currently in P1
