I am planning a move back next year and looking to place my child in Sec 2. May I know how you prepare your kids for SPERS?

Sorry parents. Need some help again on the arrangement. Given the current economic situation and changes within organization, there is a possibility that I may be retrenched for my current job. I have been discussing about possible move back to Singapore. I like to find out the following:

1. Assuming that I lose my job say in 3 mths in June, I will need to move back to SG. If I don’t have a school in SG, can I home school my kid while I wait for SPERS in Oct?

2. What happens if I am back in SG in Jan 2021, I have the choice of Assured Placement. However, can I choose to home school him while waiting for the SPERS in Oct 2021?

Hi..just got posting result for my son (going to Sec 1). The school posted were too far from my house, anybody ever approach to a nearby school for direct register?

May I know how old is your son going into SEC 1? Reason I asked is that we are contemplating move back to SG maybe end of 2020. My son is 12 and should have taken the PSLE but if we return in Nov, he would not have take PSLE but yet cannot take SPERS as advised by MOE.

To slmkhoo, I am concerned if my kid will be able to adapt after the break. When did you bring your girl back for preparation? In Term 3?

To Vinegar, I read it is English and Math. For Math, I can imagine it is practising papers. How did your son prepare himself for the test?

I have a kid in P5 and I am moving to HK for a new post. I have been reading up on SPERS as I have a 3yr contract so the PSLE will be smacked right between my contract. Has anyone’s attended Singapore International School HK and come back to take SPERS?

I read that some came back to prepare for PSLE. How does this strategy compare with taking SPERS?

I am a very \"no time\" mother so hope to put them in a school that can help them so that I don't have to

not so sure about that... What I heard is that good schools expect that parents are very much involve in the kids education at home.

I have always wonder why does a parent get priority just because he/she attended the school years ago… Is their contribution greater than that of the PVs?
