    • RE: DSA 2023

Hi! Any parents got into school through DSA "Music Elective"? If so can you share your child’s profile and background in music and at what age your child was exposed to it? Is knowledge on music theory (aside from playing an instrument) a big part of it? Need to be in any performances or concerts or competition to increase the chances? I wonder if playing the piano is too common nowadays since many kids are exposed to it.

      Hi Chill_Spider,

Your concern and fear is very valid so I do understand where you are coming from, especially when it involves one’s belief system. I came to understand that the school’s values does base on buddhism teaching so character moulding (good values) is perhaps a big part of the school.

I have also heard say that during morning assembly, children will be doing buddhist chants on a daily basis. I’m bringing this out for your consideration.

@cjf: Here you go, you can read this blog article by 3mm to find an authentic montessori school, and at the bottom of her blog post, she mentioned 3 schools. https://threeminutemontessori.com/how-to-choose-an-authentic-montessori-school/

@chill_spider: I hear your concern. Do you wanna share what are you worried about? It is a buddhist school after all and if you don't feel confident about how your child will flourish in the particular school, she is going to sense/feel it and may not enjoy school as much. It is advisable to enrol your child in a school you feel 100% about! 🙂

    • RE: All About Montessori

Hi guys, as a parent who is trained in Montessori, many of the schools you mentioned here (eg. MMI, Brighton, Josiah) are not true Montessori. There are only 3 true to the authentic Montessori pedagogy and trustworthy schools in SG. One in Bukit Timah, one in Upper Thomson, one in Kovan.
