Hi, just learn that the q on the cake and cream puff is flawed. The q should read as 'The no of cakes was twice the no of cream puffs. After 180 cakes and 42 cream puffs were sold, the ratio of the no of cakes left to the no of cream puffs was 2:5. How many cakes and cream puffs were in the shop at first?
the answer is 306.

RE: Tutor MathsGuru: Ask me for your burning Maths questions!
oops.
wondering if the approach of solving the problem using the end (after the sales ) and comparing the ratio in the manner which ends up an illogical ans of 4u=3 is ok. -
RE: Tutor MathsGuru: Ask me for your burning Maths questions!
Agreed.
Maybe there is an error in the q as mentioned by some.
But basing on the relationship of the ratios b4 and after ,does the ‘logical’ approach and model make sense though it does not gives a logical ans?
thanks -
RE: Tutor MathsGuru: Ask me for your burning Maths questions!
Hi, thanks for all you guys for trying. I copied the q from my girl P6 worksheet. I was also stuck and not able to get the ans.
now waiting for the school to return the worksheet.
kindly help check if the logic below is correct.
After:
cake
[u][u]
cream puff
[u][u][u][u][u]
before
[u][u][45][45]
[u][u][u][u][u][42]
[u][45]=[u][u][u][u][u][42] 2:1
4u=3 ????? -
