I am keen on both Temasek Junior College and Victoria Junior College. Both are of equal distance from my house. I don’t really mind the uniform and their school buildings. But I would like to know about their academics and student behavior.

Eventually settled near Temasek Primary. When I told my friends about it, they said huh?? Neighbourhood school in Bedok?? Now I'm feeling the stress whether it is a good school and that with this PV system, whether I should even bother to PV for it when the time arrives.
Don't worry much! Temasek Primary is a very good school. Their 2015 PSLE score was extremely well done with many candidates scoring over 250! Many scored above 265 too! Temasek Primary is a very good school that the pupils enjoyed. My daughter enjoyed her 6 precious years in Temasek Primary and she never regretted once going there. The teachers there are good and friendly as well. -
RE: IP vs O level
Both have good and bad things about it.
IP is more about project work and lesser examinations. But project work takes up a lot of time and my child does not have much time to study for their other examinations.
O Level also has project work, just lesser, but with more examinations. But the number of subjects tested are lesser compared to IP as O level have more examinations.
PSLE candidates may feel that IP is very good at first but after that they will prefer O level as they will get a better chance to score better and it would be better if the school is dual-track.
If the school is DUAL-TRACK, i HIGHLY RECOMMEND child to go O level. As those in IP may drop to o level and not get a chance to go back to IP stream at sec 3 while those in O level will get a change to go IP in secondary 3 if they score well. -
RE: Is going to a better school worth hour long travel times?
No, I don’t think so.
My daughter is currently studying at Cedar Girls’ Secondary School and she has to travel 1 hr on public transport to reach there in the morning. I feel that if parents can take them to school, it would be alright to travel though.
Every day when my daughter comes back she will feel very tired and not have the energy to do work and waking up too early may also make them want to sleep in the morning.
If you still want to attend a better school, you can move house to near the school. My family moved last year and now my daughter just needs to walk 5-min to reach school.
