MooMoo:jtoh is right. MOE system stores the aggregate score with multiple decimal points for ranking purpose. Hence, at the end of the day, it is important to discuss with your DS to allow him to rank his choices and then you moderate to ensure it is indeed a good combination. He must be comfortable with his choice as this is going to be another 6 years journey. Hope you get what I mean. Last year, my DS wants HCI and I want him to get into RI for convenience sake. At the end, I stepped back. Both RI and HCI are great schools. Anyway, congratulations for the good achievement! The computer will allocate based on MERIT first. So the student with 259 will be allocated his choice of school before the student who scores 258, 257 etc.jtoh:
hi, tks for the input. ACSI is too far. btw, will it jeopardize his chance if a school is placed as 2nd/3rd choice? the admittance to school is based on merit (score) or order of choices? let's say HCI cop is 257, will a boy with 257 and put HCI as 1st choice has priority over someone with 259 but put HCI as 2nd choice?
So anyone who's ranked above your son will get to exercise his choice first, regardless of whether it's his 1st choice, 2nd choice etc. Similarly, your son will get to exercise his choice before those ranked below him. So if he doesn't get his first choice of RI, he will get his 2nd choice etc before the computer moves down to the person ranked after him.
:celebrate:
yes, exactly. I told him the same too, most importantly he has to be 'happy' for the next 6 years. I am just not too sure whether he is able to cope considering he is not the self-motivated type.
many thanks moomoo & jtoh for the great info
