While some of you are still looking for the ideal Right Brain Training, here are a couple of right brain games you can play with your child right now. For those of you worried about your child’s age, they actually work better for slightly older children (ages 2 and up)
1)\tHave your child write out his or her name. Then have him write it again, this time going from right to left (mirror writing). Have him write it again upside down, then have him write it upside down and backwards. Writing from right to left is an excellent way of engaging the right brain.
2)\tThis one is about engaging your left and right brain at the same time. It’s one I learned on my NLP training and it’s excellent. Have your child sit up straight and clap his hands to his knees twice. Then touch his nose with his right hand, and touch his right ear with his left hand in one movement. Then clap his hands on his knees twice again, and then touch his nose with his left hand, and his left ear with his right hand. Repeat for two minutes.
3)\tGive your child some random words and ask him to freestyle a story using those words, allowing his imagination to take full rein. This one is a lot of fun and you’ll be impressed with what your child comes up with. When I played this game with my 3 year old god son, he spent a full 20 minutes telling me a fantastic adventure story, which he created just from the word ‘mountain’. Be enthusiastic and become fully engaged in the story with him, to encourage his imagination to even greater heights.
I hope these are helpful.
