Hi Puzz…zle, thank for bringing this up which allows us (Superstar Teacher Team) to explain our Position.


1. Unlike tuition centres / tutors which get to physically see and interact with their students, Superstar Teacher teach using carefully planned recorded lessons, with detailed explanation. It is more difficult for us to get true feedback from our parents / Superstarians of the programme, and features they feel can help us improve their viewing experience. (On our enhance portal, we added in the Recent activities and indexing for the video lessons).
Thus, by having a contest, we hope it will encourage more Superstar users to come forward and share their viewing experience with us. Do be assured that we will vet through every entry, with the child’s viewing duration on Superstar Teacher, and ensure it is a genuine entry.

2. Duration of the Superstar Chinese Lessons are shorter than our Math lessons. The stand of our curriculum team is that we need not unnecessary stretch the duration of the lessons, if there is no need for us to do so.
Allow me to share the methodology of our Chinese programme.
a. We look through all the keywords in the passages (based on MOE syllabus) that a child will be tested in CA1, SA1, CA2 and SA2.

b. We look through the school exams papers to get a rough idea what type of passages (themes) students will be exposed to in these major examinations.

c. From there, we work on the scope we will cover in every lesson, based on the different components a child will be tested in their exams.

Chinese textbook, unlike Math, Science and English, is printed by MOE. Thus, the syllabus / structure / scope for Chinese is more ‘fixed’ compared to the other subjects.

3. The topics covered in Primary 5 Science is more ‘Biological’. Topics like Cells, From Parents to Young, Reproduction in flowering plants and humans, Energy in Food, Air and the Respiratory system, Circulatory System and many others, requires more explanation. Whereas in Primary 6, we will still cover these topics taught in Primary 5, but we will only cover the main concepts. More importantly, we will cover PSLE-difficulty questions from these topics.

Allow me to do some clarification on this.

The true value for Superstar Teacher has always been on its video lessons, where the teacher will explain the concepts and guide the child to obtain the full marks for open-ended questions (children always lose marks for such questions).

By listening to the teacher’s explanation on the video, a child can grasp key science concepts, learn the different answering strategies and become interested in Science.

For Science, we also have experiment videos, where the child can have a visual experience of understanding Science.

Hope this clarify any doubt that you have on this matter.
