      HiHi.

My boy is 3.5 years old now. Planning to send him to swimming class. is it too young for it? Do you guys have any good recommendation for swimming classes near telok kurau or east side of singapore?

      Thanks in advance~~ šŸ˜„
Your boy is definitely not too young to go for swimming lessons. There are swim schools in Singapore (including us) that provides swimming lessons for babies as young as 6 months old. Here's just a link to an infographic for everyone's info on why you should let your child learn swimming early: https://www.swiminsg.com/why-baby-learn-swimming/.

Since your boy is only 3.5 years old, more attention is required to be given to him in the swimming class. As such, it is unlikely that swimming instructors would want to take him into a group class. You will have to consider a private class for your child. If you need any help finding an instructor, do give me a call at 9432 7088 šŸ˜„

For Lifesaving 1 > Lifesaving 2 > Lifesaving 3 > Bronze Medallion and CPR, what is the timeline we are looking at for a 14-15 yo competent swimmer? I checked out your website. Does it mean after 10 lessons, they will be ready to take Lifesaving 1? Thanks!
I presume you were looking at the crash course. The first crash course of 10 weeks will bring your child through Lifesaving 1, 2 and 3 certifications together. The 10th session is usually the test.

With regards to the timeline, if your child is able to pass all the tests on the first try, he will finish up to Bronze Medallion and CPR within 20 lessons. However, Bronze Medallion has a timed-component which requires the student to take off clothes, jump into the water and swim 50 metres, and save a victim and swim back the 50 metres, all within 3 minutes and 15 seconds. This will require lots of practice once the training for Bronze Medallion begins.

I personally took up lifesaving at 15 years old, and completed the higher awards (beyond Bronze Medallion and CPR) when I was 16. However, I really did swim a lot during that period to get my fitness up to standard.

Yes, I agree with Jon that the child must enjoy the activity. I really dread seeing children being dragged to my lessons. If they don't enjoy themselves, they won't put in any effort in the class, and will not improve at all. In the end, nothing is achieved, and the parents have just wasted their money.

There are so many other sports that the child can take up. If swimming is not for them, try other sports. As long as you get them off the couch and their eyes off a screen šŸ˜‰

[quote=\"Amyyyeo\"]Hi I have a boy at the age of 9 yr old just finish swimsafer gold may I know after gold what shall he do next ? And I am also very interested to put him competive swimming or to go and take basic life saving 1 ? May I know which one come first ? He have been started swimming at the age of 4 yr old ...

      Hi,

Competitive swimming is an option to consider, but it can be very time consuming and tiring for your son.

With regards to lifesaving, I recommend that he take Lifesaving 1 instead of Basic Lifesaving 1 since he can swim. Basic Lifesaving is for people who do not want to or cannot swim. I would think Lifesaving is more beneficial for your son as compared to Basic Lifesaving.

Lifesaving progresses from Lifesaving 1 > Lifesaving 2 > Lifesaving 3 > Bronze Medallion and CPR. Do note that to do Bronze Medallion, your son will have to be 14 years old in the year he takes the test.

      Just some food for thought.

      Cheers

I'm helping a female instructor to find students for a new class that she wants to set up. Toa Payoh swimming complex on Saturdays at 3pm. Minimum 5 students to start.

Pretty hard to find female instructors with free slots. So if you want to have your child learn under a female instructor, PM us with your details šŸ˜„

My son is 3 yo and is very fearful of water. Please advise on good instructor who can help him overcome his fear. Thanks

Your son will have to take private lessons first. It will take some time for your son to gain confidence. Meanwhile, bring your son to the pool to have some fun. Bring some toys and water gun along. It should help to alleviate the fear
