For Chinese exemption, anyone has a reply from MOE for 2020?

Postscript: DD got rejected. The wait is 3 months.

I think for my ds, he was glad to have an explanation. There was no way round it because he was having so much difficulties he himself wanted to be tested.

I noted that 'dr' and 'fl' bend seem problematic. This is typically more challenging for young children but shd be ok by P1. (But limited sample.) See if these two blends and similar blends (eg cr) often come up as problematic. Try a multisensory approach and amke sure he enunciates the words very clearly when learning spelling.
once he gets comfortable with phonics, he has to learn to improve his visual recall.
Co.lo.nial (instead of Co.lo.naill) / Trend (instead of Trand) / remote (instead of remoat).

      Hi Chow,

I suggest testing early if you suspect that is the case. If you would like to wait, I suggest sending him for phonics class would him cope (by being aware of how words form).

Even after testing (late P2 on a Dec kiddo), my DD copes by having intensive tuition in all subjects to provide consistency.

    • RE: All About Dyslexia

My DD was assessed and has dyslexia. I did further tests (audio n visual) and found out she has convergence insufficiency. Her eyesight is 6/6 vision. When they can’t read clearly, I suggest checking their eyes as well.

While she is undergoing vision therapy, there has been an improvement in reading but her writing reflects the difficulty of a dyslexic child.

Its not easy for dyslexic kids to cope but continue to give them lots of love & support.

Do you have any recommendation? All other schools are out of 2km.. haiz

Sometimes this school thing is a big joke! I have Fairfield 1-2km from my house. No chance. Henry Park 1-2km from my house too. No chance! New Town will be backup for me if my gal really so suay at 2A2 and 2B. But 2B school very far away and student care is a problem cos no school-based one, must find outside the school. Sian.

You are 1km from NYPS applying for 2C?

For other schools, do you need student care after school? School bus? You will need to consider these as well.

If dun mind, Alexander Pri Sch (co-ed) should be able to get in, even for SC>2KM. Phase 2CS, not sure. Schools in Clementi have student care facilities nearby.

ok… the small blue notebook lines seems very narrow for P1 handwriting.

      Thanks for the tip!
