COPs of some popular schools shot up by 3-8 points.

7 schools will not offer Sec 1 in 2016 due to failing demand.

Strategic planning?

A few points to ponder:
(1) Between S1 option and S1 posting, it took the MOE 20 days.
(2) Based on the post by one parent, she was told this morning that the school her son was posted to yesterday will not open Sec 1 in 2016.
(3) the number of P6 students taking PSLE in 2015 can be confirmed by Mar 2015.
(4) the number of babies born in 2003 can be confirmed by Jan 2004.

National average is not 200


200 is the minimum T score to enter Express stream

Think of how the T-score is constructed ...
And I am not so sure 200 is the minimum for Express ...

every cohort is different and its not exactly fair to compare current batch with previous batches' results. the quality of the kids may differ just like the difficulty level of the papers may differ too. instead of focusing on the top T score isn't it more meaningful to look at where the school stands in terms of mean/average score and the number of students who score more than 250, for example? so what if certain school has a student who scored the highest but the majority of its students are lower than national average? does it mean the school did well against the others? is one top T score reflective of the school's overall results? certainly not.


some posters commented that NYPS' average score of 235 is low. but the last i checked, ai tong (219), rosyth (221) both SAP schools too are lower. only NHPS did better. unless we know whats the national average, can we jump to conclusion that NYPS has done badly
compared to others?

am just speaking out loud- am not connected to NYPS in anyway.

Shouldn't the National average be 200?

2013 PSLE exam is a very painful experience for my son. He is from brother school of SJI.

Based on 245 COP, at 235 he will definitely get a place in SJI. Due to exam stress, and high fever before the science paper, instead of High confidence A or A* in his most confidence Science paper, he only get a B. He scored 227.
Before the PSLE, we tried to use badminton to get into SJI through DSA. He is the captain of his school. Due to shortage of 2 members before the west zone competition his school was not even allowed to take part in the competition, due to this, he was not even get selected to show his skill in the DSA selection.
After the PSLE exam, he was so sad, not wanting to speak or talk to us. I do not know, how long will this process going to last and be able to bring up a young boy's confidence on his long learning journey.....

Depending on how you can help your son understand this episode, it might be the best lesson he will learn in his life --- that Luck plays a big part in our life and that we must learn to be humble in times of good fortune and be strong in times of bad fortune. Learn this lesson early in life is a blessing as one has many more years to recover from the bad luck and utilize the lesson learnt.

Just want to check what time must the students report to school from Mon to Fri? For year 1 students, do they have a lot of homework? And lastly, what is the promotion criteria i.e like from yr 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and so on?
