MintyMin:My ds have tingxie when he was in K1 and K2, we speak minimal Mandarin at home n he did not attend any enrichment classes.. but he still have prob with tingxie during P1, now slightly better.. thus i feel it is all based on individual child..My dd1 didn't have tingxie when she was in K2 and she didn't have any issue with tingxie in P1. She does not have Chi enrichment too. But we do speaks Mandarin at home.SAHM_TAN:
hihi, my dd is going to P1 in 2014. she doesnt attend enrichm class, only pcf k2 and self taught. hope that she wouldnt be lagging behind the average students.
so far no tingxie fr her sch.
U may juz start preparing her like what phtthp suggested earlier.
Thanks for the comments mummies (assumming all ladies)!my dd does speak mandarin at hm. i am not sure if she can write chinese words (excluding those she does in sch), cos i dont ask her to practise writing. not yet.
phtthp: u are spot on. i do believe in home teaching and against spending $ & giving the job to other teachers in some enrichm sch. struggling a little to do teaching at hm cos there are so much to cover! english, chinese, maths, reading books in both languages + so little time (both parents work full time & we hav a younger girl).
on one hand, i want my kids to enjoy their childhood, learn at their pace. on the other hand, i am worried if i am not kiasu now (or rather, not kiasu Enough) & that might cause later troubles/stress when i find out that she has much to catch up.
