I’m extremely surprised to hear that there are still parents out there that are still living in the last century. We should never put the blame on our kids’ teachers and the local education system.A lot has changed over the years in the education ministry curriculum guidelines.
Having our kids grew up to what we might want them to be is the parents’ responsibility. Teachers cannot be parents to our kids and don’t expect them to be. As professional educators, they are to guide our kids academically and holistically. We should all work with and alongside the system to harness our kids full potential.
At upper primary, all students are expected to adapt to the norm of having homeworks. So parents, please be realistic.

RE: CHIJ (Kellock)
It all depends on what kind of work that are slated in a particular school term. If they’re a set of worksheets from one package, then the students are required to complete part of it as homework. Same goes for all the school’s Workbooks. It’s healthy for students to be given some homeworks.

Yes, you're right indeed that a regular turbine should suffice. But as we know, even in the aviation industry there are 'politics' involved. Sad to hear of the great loss of lives.
Condolences to all the affected families. -

RE: Russian plane disappears in Indonesia
An extremely sad and an unexpected end to what is to be a new era in Russian aeronautics. The Superjet 100 is a revolutionary new aircraft with the latest in many safety features not found in ealier Russian civillian planes.
It's SaM146 engines are state-of-the-art! Using BLISK technology with IBR (Integrally Bladed Rotors) used by the F-35s for STOVL. Downside, they require high maintenance work and regular harmonic vibration testing at specialised facilities.
Possible that the crash is due to the inavailability of such vital facility in Myanmar, Pakistan and Kazakhstan prior to Indonesia. Hope the investigation units shed some light into this. -

RE: All Schools are GOOD Schools
Strparent:
How right you are about the current situation on our education system. Back then, to have a winning horse, all you need is a thoroughbred. Today, it has changed little since and I believe the stigma of good school, bad school will stay on for another generation or two.
Verykiasu2010:
A majority of Finnish parents are no different than us here. They had sleepless nights too. I knew of a single mother with two high school kids who went through hell to get them to college. Stress is bad for our health but that’s the price we have to pay to get results.
