Hi, does anyone have an idea on the number of shortlisted applicants for SOTA visual arts this year? I'm referring to shortlisted applicants to the Talent Academy.

      Thank you!

Great question. would also like to know. Just curious. I reckon it's between 40 and 50.

      Awesome user name.

I'm sure it's more than 50 applicants who cleared the first round.. since the intake for visual arts should be about 70 students. I read somewhere that its more than 200 shortlisted for the TA.. but that's like 4 years ago..

June holidays are ending soon and back to slogging again!

Your statement implies they slogged in the first place. 😄

If my sec 1 dd slogs i will be contented for her hard work put in.. but i guess it's me slogging when school reopens.. wake early, manage 3 kids, meals, household chores, work, tuition, nagging etc.. I'm looking forward to christmas already... 😉

    • RE: 2014 Sec 1 Discussions

when i see my dd sitting around and rotting away on FB, instagram, snapchat etc etc… it irks me so much… i’d rather she go out and get out of my sight so yes i let her out with her friends on fri and sat… and on sun i started nagging at her… not doing anything useful, read a book, revise your work since i don’t think u did well for your mid year right… (yes i’m mean and not much tolerance towards my own kids)… well today school resumed and i hope the return of papers and all the low grades will jolt her out of her complacency and laziness.

i plan to make her revise her work thoroughly during june holidays… i like the idea of volunteer work too… can anyone enlighten me please how to get volunteer work? dd loves old folks if it’s related to old folks she will be running for it for sure… thanks in advance for any advice!

      Goodluck8:
Dear sec 1 parents, the new 2014 syllabus history assessment books are available now at popular. It is based on Singapore history and the comprehensive notes matched with the TB they r using this year. There r 2 publisher available, Wismann and GLM. It consists of source based questions and long structured questions. And I like the way the books present the ans, which stated diff way of answering source based question will only be located certain mark (1 mark, 2-3 marks or 5-6 marks)

thank u for this goodluck8! too bad exams over but will need them for jun hols revision!

    • RE: Secondary School Literature

Hi, does anyone know of any sites with study guide for "Totto-chan (The Little Girl at the Window)"? I tried searching but nothing useful so far…

With exam round the corner, i’m not sure if dd has time to do notes for chapter summary and analysis etc… Study guide will help speed revision a bit i’m hoping… besides just reading the book itself…
Thanks in advance for any inputs!

thank u for sharing the History book buds! when u have time, could u pls share the date of publishing and contents page? I think different school use different history text book, don't they?

Yes I suppose so. Each school selects their own set of books to teach from/with.. There should be notes too I think..

I've checked the history book... but there wasn't any published date or perhaps I couldn't find any  but here is the contents page for you.

I bought this at Popular's IMM branch, together with the Geography Guide.

thank you Buds.. i just saw this as i've not been checking forum for a while.. appreciate your kindness! not sure about this book tho as dd history is based on Singapore history and so may not be too relevant.. not sure how to help her as she hates the subject (actually so do I) and I'm still clueless how to study for this subject..
