Many of the our children are extremely accomplished. They get good grades, play the piano, the violin, taekwondo black belt… you name it, they nail it. These successes come relatively easily to them because many of them have watched their parents model achievement since they were young.
The good news: by modeling hard work, we’ve helped make working hard come quite naturally to our children. (Many of the children I work with are willing to work harder to get better results!)
Perseverence or resilience, are innate qualities of human beings. Our ancestors have it, that’s why we are here today. If we can make something like "hard work" comes easily for our children, we can also bring out natural qualities, like resiliency, compassion in our children.
