Thank you so much for your sharing, i have visited Kids N Kids school, really like the small class size, saw the excellent work that the kids did too. the kids are happy and seems to enjoy themselves, that's very important to me as I really want my kids to enjoy their school.

A good school at Telok Kurau is Kids 'n' Kids School at 1 Lorong J Telok Kurau. It's currently leasing the space from Osac College at the same address.

The school was started this year, but the teachers and principal are people whom we have known for 3 years. Most of them were from Gracefields Koon Seng down the road. My 5yo girl is v happy there with her K1 class. These are some points I thought of sharing with you why the school's good:

1. Principal and teachers are v passionate and loving. They have a way of reaching out to the kids at each kid's personal capacity and bringing out the best in the kid whilst also ensuring that each kid recognise that his/her classmates are unique individuals and treat them as such. Class size is small, about 10 at each level. They also feedback to us consistently about our kids throughout the year and parents-teachers work closely to ensure similar treatment at home & at school. For eg, when my girl was younger, she had a habit of hitting friends and the teacher will share with me verbal words to say to discourage that. Another kid refused to give up his milk bottle even at K1 and the principal announced a 'bottle-farewell\" day where all kids brought their milk bottles to school, bid farewell to them, and dumped them into the dustbin. Funny !!!

2. The curriculum is v strong, and I know most of the kids are well prepped for P1 and beyond (parents put younger siblings in the school and fedback to us on how the older pri sch kids are faring). I have seen the English, Math, Science projects, and Chinese work that my K1 girl had done this year and have been wow-ed by what I saw. Examples are paper recycling project, rolling boiled and raw eggs and note these move differently and discuss the differences is due to the density of these eggs (I never knew about the diff !!). More importantly, they make learning comes alive with a lot of field trips, and deepen the learning by teaching the subject and then cementing it with lots of projects.

3. It's not only a school for kids, it's a school for families. At the end of each term, there will be an event where the child will do with the family, like cook-up day, sports day, concert etc. And it also respects the grandparents by celebrating the annual Mid-Autumn Festival with them on one evening of a school day. Naturally, the parents bond are also strong, and we arrange activities together where often, all in class will turn up. Last week during hols, we K1 parents went to watch 'Smurfs' with all the kids, and boy, were they boisterous !!

4. The life skills component is strong. This one is funny, but relieving for me as a lazy parent. They train the kids from K1 level to clean up tables, and wash the plates/bowls after they have eaten. Shamefully, I should be the one doing this training at home, but I now happily outsource to the school

5. The principal has a way to retain her staff. And this I take my hat off to her. I hear from many friends about turnover in their kids' schools and thankfully, it's not something I witness over here. I have known the principal and teachers for 3 years, having started with them since N1. The principal herself is highly educated with a Master of Education. What made me take my hat off even more is she started her career in the banking sector but her love for education and children made her move to pre-school and is something she has been doing for nearly 2 decades, and we know about the income disparity between the 2 sectors (I come from banking sector myself).
