The 2011 election results showed that there is no guarantee heavyweight ministers can keep the GRCs. It still depend on how much the voters want opposition candidates to get into parliament.

Last time they always thought that having a heavyweight minister can secure a GRC. But the results of 2011 election where quite a no. of GRC only manage to get over 55% of votes make this tactic seem like it don’t work so well anymore.
People got tired of this, especially when new candidates got parachuted into parliament under the GRC system.
I feel they should go one on one, that is what election should be and leave it to the electorate to nominate those candidates they want to enter parliament.
Till now we still have 5 and 6 persons GRCs. They still refuse to give up the GRC system or have smaller GRC like 3 persons which is good enough to fulfill the minority races criteria.

It’s ultimately the voters’ choice. For a more balanced parliament with representative from different parties

to voice out on policies that affects the people. For that to materialise, voters will have to look beyond town council issues. It is just a matter of estate management that involves estate cleaning and maintenance issues and financial management that need to be overcome. I feel we should give WP more time to run the town council.
Unless we want to go back to square one with the dominance of one party in parliament. Then we are going backwards and won’t be making much progress. Is that good and healthy for Singapore?
Our love and respect for our founding father does not mean we do not want any opposition in parliament.
So voters will need to know what they want Singaoore politics to be going forward.

need such a highly qualified teacher
to teach my grade 2 boy and pay such a high
rate or someone with a diploma in teaching from
ABRSM will do.

I’m in the midst of getting a new teacher for my boy who is doing Grade 2. I have on hand 2 teachers to consider.
One is a LTCL Diploma holder with 4 years of teaching experience and the other has LRSM and more than 10 years of teaching experience.
The one with LTCL can come to my place to teach and charges a lower fee as compared to the LRSM one which charges a slightly higher fee and I have to send my boy over to her place.
Anyone can advise which I should take?

Me too have been a SAHM for 8 years. Really feel like having no friends
once we left school and workplace. My secondary school friends are
a group of five but in different stages of life. And we seldom meet up
as no one seems to have the initiative to organize regular meet ups and also because it is hard to fit in to everyone schedule.
Really hope to make more like minded friends to talk and share.

my kid who is in P4 now refuse to go afterschool care and his school
does not have one yet. Those I can find in my estate are not really good. My hubby also says now is also not the right time to send as
worry it may affect his academic performance.

Same same... Hardly ever meet up with the few friends I have. They are still working so they have outings with their colleagues and other friends too.. Sometimes, really don't know who to turn to. :sad:

Make new friends in the neighborhood! And call up old ones just to catch up! No need to organize big gatherings, one to one is just fine too. Friendship needs time like everything else, schedule it in if you have to. And if meeting up with friends who are single or childless, avoid talking excessively about your own children. hi all, am also a sahm. i don't make friends easily but i'm v lucky to have some very good friends from school and work with whom i'm still in touch regularly.


if u feel bored or have something to get off your chest, do come in here and chit chat. it's easier to make cyber friends than real life friends plus if your cyber friend turns out to be like one of those characters you'd rather avoid in real life, you can always back off slowly.

I have good or best friend in my Pri sch, secondary sch and poly.

But sadly they don't stay with me. Probably because I did not
make an effort in keeping the friendships. They just come and
go. Now that I'm an SAHM, I felt my circle of people getting even
smaller without working colleagues.
Probably I'm not good in attracting and keeping friends
I wish I have some real friends that stay with me.
