    • RE: All About Choosing and Buying Pianos

I already sack that previous teacher who come my house conduct lessons says that my roland digital piano is still good for me to use. anyway I just sold my roland digital piano for 1k. This new teacher I go her house for lessons as she use very old big upright grand japan piano said if I can stop using digital piano and get real piano is better for me as soon as possible. This new teacher is so much better, taught me a lot of things and prepare me for this july-sep exam which tomorrow she register for ABRSM grade 4 exam for me presented in her name. She is very confident of me doing well in exam with weekly lessons and regular practice.

The piano shop I going twice and tried the very old piano Yamaha U3 paid 20% deposit, my choice will not be down into drain this time round and it will be right after some years of experience of buying selling pianos.

Now I have no piano to use at home so going cristofori music school to rent their china piano to use there till this middle month my pay and bonus is in for the piano to come.

Just brought a used U3 Yamaha piano at 2.3k from a shop, everything is good except it had repaint before so front part a bit ugly. But the sound and touch is solid. Serial number was taken as it was manufactured in 1967, 3 years warranty with delivery and 2 free tuning.

I have called cash converter house call service and they agreed to take it away at S$500 for my roland digital piano. Then later buy a used 61 key portable keyboard will do for some other purpose. If practice at midnight, just press down the muting middle pedal at least can practice a bit also good.

    • RE: All About Choosing and Buying Pianos

Just want to ask to choose a small piano and big piano. I have visited to used piano shops and tested the piano for Yamaha U1 and small piano Yamaha M108 over 30 years old selling at 3.8k and 2k. Both of the condition are good and sound good.

The shop advised me not need to spend so much money buy U1, get a smaller piano as my constraint is I do not want noisy loud piano in my flat not suitable. The smaller piano is good to play as hobby at night as if I really need to practice for exam can go music school rent a big upright china piano is good enough to get the touch and feel, is this true?

I have a digital piano Roland F130 new model demo at http://www.youtube.com/kokwee81 compare to grand upright.

But I do not like the new Petrof P131 sound as it was very loud and too noisy brought about 14K last year Feb so sold off get this digital piano since last year beginning month of Nov.

But my teacher said my level after a few months going for ABRSM grade 4 exam at grade 5 cannot use digital need a upright. Even a very old upright still good but no digital piano no need to rush to buy it at next month but slowly got to invest one at 3-5K for Yamaha U1 no need U3.

I found someone selling Yamaha U1 less than 2K but is over 40 years old, since they buy and kept it 10 years at that time is over 30 years old as daughter not learning. By this Sunday afternoon I go his house to take a look if I like it exclude transport and tuning which he can recommend one unless these few days he sold off. What your comment on buying this piano?

A few months back sold off to the shop, due to playing higher grade very noisy.

I using digital piano for two months plus, and need a upright piano to play higher grades, might as well as dun learn piano better save money.

I working late spending time a lot on traveling, if dinner taken rest a bit I start playing piano quite late not so nice to neighbours in hdb flat. So I do not know how. My lessons are on weekend, hence very difficult to fork out much time to practise.

    • RE: All About Choosing and Buying Pianos

I downgraded from upright to a digital piano.

But I soon reaching to higher level G6 and above and requires an upright piano so getting rid the digital now ending G4 start G5 abrsm.

The teacher said U1 used about 2.5K to 3K can last till grade 8 not need to spend so much money or get U3. But normally this kind of pricing it will end up a piano which is over 20 years old to 30 am I right? I wish to find a 10 year old Yamaha or younger but not possible for U1?

Should I get a Japan Piano like old Yamaha U1, or a cheaper piano not so old Korean brand like Hyundai 121 exam model?

Discuss about choosing piano upright vs the grand, why not try to listen my recording on playing a pretty good digital piano new model close to a grand or good upright grand.

My petrof P131 upright grand just sold away link a few months back.

At least buy this digital piano or try it out. No need to loss so much of your money you or your kid decided to loss interest in it.

    • RE: Should I continue learn my singing lessons?

I been learning from few teachers over 8 years for leisure. This teacher I learn almost 3 months since end July for seven 1 hour lessons and this month change to 30 minutes and this weekend will be the last lessons if I choose not to continue no need to pay anymore school fee as collected in 3 month 11 lessons a term.

She is from china, speak very simple English so mostly speak to her in Chinese mid 20s. She work in this music school one year plus in Yio Chu Kang CC. But the music school said they offer only classical vocal only leisure so treated all fee as beginner not graded like piano so all these lessons I learn about four songs Italian Aria Short 2 pages songs, maybe classical opera or not from a 24 songs my old yellow book bring in.

She play piano well for me to sing, look at how I sing multitask and advise a few stuffs. She said got study in degree, so she advise take 30 minutes is more than enough no need an hour so I try a few lessons let the school know I changing to 30 minutes since fee paid for seven one hour lessons. I always in the past thinking 30 minutes not enough not even 45 minutes also for singing lessons.

But the problem is my cash quite tight, as I having piano lessons so two music lessons. My piano lessons is learn for 6 years plus, going for exam in start year 2016 as right now going march 2015 grade 4 exam is too rush to register now online. So Grade 5 will start in Jan next year another new grade 5 2015/16 ABRSM book and fee increase.

I cannot decide so any comment will be helpful here? If I stop by this weekend and start middle of next month no suitable timing or she left the school, then wait next years, will it be a waste of my vocal skills acquired in these few years?
