This is based on my observations, talking to friends who are in the industry and feedback from parents.

The first preferred pick will be from that pool. That’s the best way to benchmark or predict PSLE results. No surprises or stressing the secondary school system later on.
For academic domain, only the tests from elite schools are considered. So, if a child is in neighbourhood school, chances are, the school will not be invited for the tests thus no matter how good you are, you will not get past shortlist round. Thus, DSA is irrelevant because the most reliable means of getting into a good school is based on PSLE results.
Just my thoughts going through this process now.

Frankly, I realise the child’s fate is sealed on two events. Choice of primary school and GEP selection.

My boy was dropped off and was on his own at RI for the Science test. He managed to get this rough figure from source. That’s is to say English, Malay, Maths and Science domain in attendance made up about 5% of the total application for RI academic domain.

It’s sometimes good to let our kids be independent to explore and experience. They will sniff and find something. I wasn’t there with him or his father. If the source is reliable, I trust my son to ask different questions to verify his understanding.

Good luck for those shortlisted for HCI.

For those who went to the academic test in RI, be proud of yourself because the first elimination exercise leaves top 5% last Saturday.

Don’t really know the selection criteria. SST got students with competition experience but no medals at all for test.

Feels like an eternal painful wait, starting to self doubt, but couldn’t have done better. Hope to see some of your boys really soon.
