My father-in-law teaches Chinese tuition and he has one P6 student whose mother insisted that she continue tuition without even one week's break. She was back having lessons the day after PSLE finished! That really is taking it too far in my view.

That mother really too much...poor girl. She must be very sad seeing all her friends relax and enjoying post-PSLE time. My boy totally no tuition (anyway, he has only CL/EL writing since P2, no other subjs) since start of this month and I will see if he needs in Sec 1 since now still early to commit to any. He is enjoying life now...we going 2 tours this 2 months.

So glad that PSLE is finally over :rahrah: ! Have you thrown out all the school files and worksheets?

Anyone know when is the open date for NTUC donation?

Yup, glad that its over, 🕺 I have packed the files and will dispose them over the weekend. Not keeping for DD 2 who is only 4. Parents who are working with your kids for SA 2, all the best!

DD agreed to start looking at her sec 1 materials after a break of 3 weeks. In the meantime, will let her enjoy the break. In fact, will be bringing her to legoland during the psle marking days. She is a real lego fan!

So fast you prep Sec 1 materials for your DD already? :yikes:

As a first-time \"PSLE mum\" I am totaly stunned that people are actually producing videos about the answers to the exam questions. What's done is done. let's move on. We are just torturing ourselves.

Perhaps such videos are meant for 2017 PSLE parents n students? I am sure they are keen to find out so they can prepare themselves for next year?

2016 parents and students don't need to open the links - just ignore.

Indeed...I accessed the link to look at the questions but I'm not a 2017 PSLE parent.
I'm a 2019 PSLE parent! Yeah yeah....talk about kiasu. lol

What I'm wondering though, is how they managed to get those pictures?
They looked to be genuinely from the PSLE booklet. Did someone sneak a copy out?
Or someone sneaked a camera in?[/quote]Unlikely...think it was reproduced out of description from student's memory.

I think the balloon is possessed.

      :rotflmao: Good one.

Does anyone even know what the question is? Did the question asked \"why the balloon move in different direction when air is released?\" or \"why the balloon move in opposite direction?\". If so, the question is obviously referring to Newton's 3rd Law, which I didn't know would be tested at the Primary school level. I'm not even sure how to use kinetic energy or gravitational energy to explain that strange movement.

This qn is pretty tough even for adults...I am stunned and answerless though I myself a U grad...LOL.

My dd says that the sci paper is harder than usual, she ran out of time to check but luckily checked along the way.......she says that one question they gave two lines ton write she wrote six lines.... no wonder no time, but hopefully and agar agar the points in the six lines

It is normal....they expected long answers....my son's teacher did the same too and I always complaint why 1 mark must write so long...my goodness.

Science paper was easy but the difficult thing was time management people in my school could not finish

My DD does not find the science paper easy today. Although she finished the questions but she did not have the time to complete her checking for her answers in booklet B.

My son from top class also find it hard....don't think is easy. Most classmates said hard too...but he managed to complete all. Not bad liao. Finger crossed now.

My DD says all the questions in the math paper could be solved without being MO-trained, so to be fair, the students were taught in their syllabus the right concepts to solve the questions. But each question needed more time to think through on how to apply the concepts, and my DD lost a few marks due to carelessness for some questions that needed more steps to solve. But I must say tuition definitely helped her strengthen her speed and application of the concepts. I can't imagine how she could have coped just through the classroom teaching of her teachers in school..

Great! That should put to rest any misconceptions that the paper contained any material that required techniques not taught to students. So it is a hard paper, but a fair paper. Oh well... the kids will be graded on the curve, anyway, so don't worry too much. Looks like the COP for the top secondary schools may be higher this year, though.

My DS say no MO Qn and both papers easy. Hope it is really so...LOL. Maths is his strongest subj.

how do we get our kids exposed to some MO qns?can just buy any MO book from Popular and do it at own leisure? or must/better get a tutor/tuition ctr to decode/help kids understand the solution?

Not sure about other schools but for Nan Chiau, the kids who are stronger in Maths are offered MO lessons in school from P3. My son attended till P5 so do benefited a lot.
