All the advices above are all very wise. There are indeed pros and cons. I just sharing my personal experiences of my friend's kid. Going to NA do take into account the mix of company in the class, if most of their mentally are not motivated, it may drag your son down. Small percentage usually NA get promoted to EX, only handful but is not impossible if the child can be really self motivated to reach his goal despite of surrounding influences. Also ask yourself is it a concern for u if he \"waste\" 1 yr, given that males are bounded 2yrs NS. If there is a choice between NA and EX, would it be better to choose EX for a better peers' influence. But can the child cope with the pace in EX, if not, he may give up his spirit. I think u know your child best, his personality, then weight the pros and cons.
Hi Parents,
Reading thru the post, I'm so envy most of you have so much choices.
I'm in a dilemma on whether should i choose NA or Express for my Son.
His Score is AL21(E5,M5,S4, CL7) and he has affiliation to St Pat(COP 20)
So I'm in a dilemma on whether should I choose Express stream as a Priority or St Pat as a Priority.
To guarantee a spot, NA Stream seem like the way to go and push him hard for Sec 1 to get promoted to Express in Sec 2. Or Just set priority as Express stream and hope for the best that he will make it for St Pat.
Is it really hard to get promoted to Express in Sec 2? Seem like a risky choice of choice NA for St Pat.
And I'm lost on the choices of school for him, please help to advise if i have other better choices?
If Express:
1. St Pat
2. Bedok View (COP 20)
3. Broadrick (COP22)
4. Bartley (COP 22)
5.
If NA:
1. St Pat
2. St Andrew
2. Temasek Sec
3 Geylang Methodist
4. Ngee Ann
5.
I'm hoping to seek some advise here so i can see some light at the end of the tunnel. -

“Christian values” could be subjective, these few years they started singing 财神到 during CNY. Years ago the previous P would not allow that.

RE: 2019 P1 Registration Exercise for 2020 In-take
The issue would be with the teacher/admin handling PV application. Likely from same country previously so during selection process of cause it’s a human nature to choose own people. Same as in our work place the hiring mgrs in the IT industry. wink

RE: 2019 P1 Registration Exercise for 2020 In-take
Just like to make known some intel. During phase 2B, in a popular school in Clementi all the PVs who are new Citizens from a certain great nation within 1km ALL went in. Those in GRC were unable to even ballot for a place.
If there are any reporters or opposition parties reading this, would be a great idea for u to dig out some evidence if new Citizens do have priority before original borne and bred Sporeans.
Same issue happening when we were balloting for a HDB flat (are the rumours true that they get priority before the local born?) Same for balloting for National Day parade, do the new Citizens get priority? Why on TV you can see them having a place on the parade stands and yet we were unable to ballot for a ticket after so many years. -
RE: 2019 P1 Registration Exercise for 2020 In-take
For those who have no choice but have to consider a further away school, you can check with the school bus service for more info on timing/cost.
My child’s sch is approx 12km away, but reached home 15-20mins earlier then a neighbour’s child sch bus which that sch is just approx 5km away. Reason being that the nearer school’s sch bus has to make more rounds ferrying around the estate. Hence, does not mean that nearer school you will reach home earlier if you are taking sch bus. However of coz the further away sch’s bus fare is more ex. So it depends whether "cost" or "time" saving is a factor in your decision. -

Sometimes is because we have no choice but to go to a further school, if your school downstairs (or around you) is a popular one (which you have no relations or alumni) and need to ballot, you would not want to take the risk if you totally has no backup school in 2CS. Guess most of our mindset, try to go for earlier phase that you are eligible, secure it then decide if u want to risk balloting for a nearer school (which is popular) nearer you.
