I think we cannot have e mindset that just because overseas students’ bmat score or entry A level grades are not as superior as local SG kids @ point of admission, their intelligence or medical knowledge at end of degree will be any worse off than our kids in local Uni .

This is a slightly condescending attitude that is myopic . Especially a sweeping generalisation like this will result in us having a “better than thou” mentality . Yes , tests and results serve as a yardstick of competency & ability but I don’t think our kids are anywhere superior . Overseas Ed if one can afford it , is also about a holistic education & exposure ... not necessarily restricted to med . If we always think that SG is e best , we will never improve by learning best practices and sending e top few lkc students to imperial every year which I believe is a coveted spot .

You don’t sound like a tiredmama at all dear :snuggles:

Thank you for sharing such a balanced thot. Indeed, many of us hv felt superior abt our kids’ grades & achievements. But we really need to u'stand grades are not an end to itself. There’s always alot more to learn fr others. We need to keep an open mind.

But My choice is between LKC and UCL/ICL medicine, any views? Thank you all to share views.
I would choose ICL . comparing that to LKC , it is e originating program and your child actually grad with imperial degree rather than a tie up.
Opportunities will be different , overall holistic education , significantly more research opp , and London your child will be exposed to a large range of diseases and illnesses. Granted they may not be as high tech or advanced or organised as in singapore , but to have a chance and can afford To study in ICL.
      Go for it !
Ucl - is also good , highly ranked not only med but I Guess imperial med would also attract more SG in general . So maybe a larger Asian community?
Covid risk will be there , so depends on how comfortable you feel to let your child go ahead . Or u can always stay back and enjoy reduced covid risk .
And also consider what your child wants at end of e day ! But great choices you have there ! Congrats ! But I would have recommended him / her to take ICL 🙂

      Bmat scores ?

No it isn't. UAS will take into account the 4H2, GP and PW. So total if all As is 90.

Then you add in the MTL on top of this 6 subject UAS, take the new total out of 100 and multiply that by 90.

      So in your case,

      6 subject UAS is 20x3 + 8.75 + 10 + 8.75 = 87.5

      Add MTL to this: 87.5 + 10 = 97.5/100 x 90 = 87.75

I see. Ok thanks a lot ! this helps in my understanding ! so, in this case, MTL score is used as it helped to move the score up marginally. Does this concept apply consistently across all courses or only specific courses ?
      Thanks again !

Yes, it's automatically calculated across all uni courses. If your MTL score doesn't improve your UAS, it won't be added.
