Is in 1 Joy.

      Hi tanshellin,

We are into the 2nd month right now, my son is only tested on 10 words of spelling in English and Chinese each. Homework if any is only one page of 1 topic and it is not frequent. My son enjoys school. Recently, the school encourages the children to read and gave them an achievement chart w reward badges... It is a good approach for my son. So thus far, he is enjoying his learning. 🕺

Couldn't find more info on the list of cca available at kcps. Anyone can advise? Thank you.

Devotion and chapel are compulsory for all
      Pupils?

Chapel session is kind of like assembly for the pupils. Simple Christian values lessons which are applicable to everyone are taught . Your Kid doesn't have to pray at the end if not comfortable.
Whatever Christian lessons taught are already so watered down. They even use snippets of the pg13 spiderman movie to teach some lessons at Chapel. How Christian do you think the school can be?
Actually I feel that parents enrol your kids in this school knowing full well that this is a christian missions school. So Chapel sessions are to be expected. If such chapel sessions are a major issue to you, then should not enrol in this school in the first place.

No offence coz I just wan to understand more. Thank you for the detail explanation.

Hi Tkchua, there may be SC within 1km who will try the 9 vacancies at CHIJ OLGC. Those staying near Rosyth and CHIJ OLGC will opt for Rosyth first at Phase 2C if they have younger male siblings. It is risky and you need to monitor statistic closely as you are more than 1km. If the number of applicants are more than 9 at Phase 2Cs for within 1km, you may lose the chance to even go for balloting at Phase 2CS at CHIJ OLGC. I advise you to monitor the statistic closely for CHIJ OLGC, Cannosa Convent and Marymount Convent and you decide which school your dd has the highest chance to enter at Phase 2Cs even if balloting is required. Don't ever go to Phase 3 because you will be very depressed if you enter Phase 3 stage. Make a wise decision and have a restful weekend.

thanks for your advise n yes will go to the one with higher chance. in this phase i can't be choosy n picky anymore. most important can secure one place without balloting.
Hi just received letter from the school that my dd had secured a place in p1 next year. Orientation is on 1 Nov. I am new to the school and appreciate if anyone could share with me how much is the transport cost from Potong Pasir to the sch?

Hi joybabe, may I know what made u choose olgc for your dd? I am considering this school in phase 2c supp.
Finn Finn - yes, first choice mcs but I worry need balloting for applicant staying more than 2km. I want to secure a place without balloting. Chij olgc is 1-2km and last year stat was ballot for spr. Even though left with 9 places I hope sc still stand a good chance.

Hope those who wants to apply for this school do it early to avoid balloting... and not end up balloting at this phase... cos i am one of them... JIA YOU! it may not be the first choice... but better than being allocated by MOE...

Yes, I agreed. Pls registered early. If more than 2km need balloting I will not take the risk at this phase. This is just too stressful....

Hi TKChua, I chose the sch mainly because it's the nearest gal sch. I had actually enrolled my dd in IJ Katong initially to avoid balloting but was later found out that there is no sch bus from Potong Pasir to IJ Katong. I did withdrawal on the last day and quickly enrolled her as I felt high chance without balloting for >2km in OLGC. I'm quite pleased with the staff and teachers during registration process.
Thank you for sharing. I hope I can secure a place next tue. 🙂
