If I place it as second choice, and both my first and second choice are rejected, won't I be like stranded?
No difference if you place which schools as your first or second choice. You are placed by merit and not by choice.

ttoblerone:Hey guys,
I'm quite currently in quite a dilemma over where exactly to head to for JC. I'm currently considering RJ, HC, VJ and NJ.
Results, 2012 GCE 'O' Levels:
English - A1
Chinese - A1
A Maths - A2
E Maths - A1
Biology, Chemistry, Physics - A1
History World Affairs (2138) - A1
Combined Humanities, Geography - A1
L1R5 Raw: 6; Net: 4 with A1 CCA grade but not HMTL.
I went for the open houses for all the 4 JCs and personally prefer the VJ atmosphere over the rest, especially with their steadily improving results at the A Levels. However, I live in the West, in Bukit Batok, which is really far from VJ (~1hr 15min travel time). If geographical distance wasn't a factor, I'll definitely place VJ as my first choice. Would the travel time make a major difference in JC?
I'm personally a bit biased against NJ, since a few seniors from my school aren't exactly too happy about the overall environment at NJ. Yet, I guess it's the most reasonable choice considering the distance and my net L1R5. Is it true that at NJ, the academic results are often over-emphasised?
I'm considering appealing to HC or RJ, but I'm afraid that if the appeal isn't successful, and let's say VJ as my second choice doesn't accept me, I'll be posted to another school. What are the chances of a successful appeal and what are the items needed for appeal, like testimonials and stuff?
