Private application for my DD. Do we need to carry vaccination cert?
I just saw an email today from SASMO organiser that there will be parent zoom briefing tomorrow night 8pm. That should address some of our questions.

      Does it say school uniform?
Yes, in the email titled “SASMO 2022 Updates”.

      1. What is the dress code for the competition?
A: Students must wear their school uniform to attend the competition.

Just bring a 2B pencil, eraser, student pass and print out the contest pass that they emailed to you. That's what they used to require pre-covid.

hi all, this week is the SASMOS. Anyone knows what to expect for a primary level private candidate trying out the test? What to bring? Sasmos FAQ does not seem to provide much information except the vaccination requirement for 12 years and above.
Same situation here. Its my lower pri child’s first time joining SASMO so we are clueless about onsite competition. Seems like only need to wear uniform and bring stationeries since it is paper competition.

We emailed to the admin but no replies. And there isn’t much other information about the onsite competition rules so that we can brief our child in advance.

Hope any experienced parents can share some information. Thanks!

I’ve heard many people say that FRP (Fractions, Ratio, Percentage) forms a large majority of the PSLE Math questions.

      - Anyone else out there with a child who does Ratio qns fine but struggles especially with Fractions? Percentage not so much. Just finding it a bit odd because these 3 topics are supposedly linked to each other in terms of concept.

      - Any impact on ability to grasp secondary school Maths in future? Or is most of it conducted in Algebra and the kids don’t need to manipulate Fractions so much in secondary school?[/quote]
Will have algebra in fractions in secondary.

The video STmummy refers to should be DHS orientation video. Yes, track shoes are recommended. Stick to white, black, grey and navy will be safe and looks nice with school uniform, logos ok.

I’m actually puzzled by the reply given by my son’s school. His NMOS award was not updated in his report book. The school told me they do not have the practice to key in such info. The organiser should be the one to update in the system, and they did not do it.

Is this the normal practice of schools?
Hmm, how weird. how will NUS High Be able to update your school’s records? Will the term organiser be referring to the teacher in charge of coordinating NMOS in your child’s school? Maybe you want to clarify with this teacher-in-charge.

Yes, my understanding is also all 50 AL14 citizens who places school as first choice will ballot together.
I think citizenship comes before choice order. So a Singaporean AL14 who places school at 6th choice gets into the school first before PR/International AL14 student at 1st choice.
      Thank you Thinker and JGMum!

Hi I would like to confirm something about posting by merit. In prior years, the students r sorted by their T score (possibly up to decimal places).

But now there will be a larger pool of students of same AL score. How does the system decide who in this pool of AL score to fill in first?

Eg in a non-sap school where all AL13 students have been posted, left with 30 places for AL14 students. There are 50 students who happen to be citizens, and all placed the school as 1st choice. How does the system determine, who to fill up the places first and who will be the last 21 students to ballot for the last place?

I would expect all these 50 AL14 are in tie breaker position to ballot for 30 places. But in MOE’s example, it’s the same as previous system, that is some students balloting for the last place. So I’m kind of confused.
