Hi, we are moving from Woodlands to Punggol in 2023 and my daughter is in p2 now. How do I go about transferring her? Must I go through MOE? Or I can approach individual school directly?

If you contact MOE, it will offer your daughter a school nearer to your new residential address which has available vacancies.

If you have specific school(s) in mind, contact the school directly.

The dates are always in that July-August period. I suggest you skip your trip. Unless u’re willing to appoint a grandparent or trusted friend to handle the registration on your behalf.

We are in dilemma now whether to send her to Woodlands Primary School which we are half way through our PV or send her directly to primary school in Punggol.If we can't use the new BTO address, does this mean we have to rent a unit there first? What are the chance of success if we were to do a transfer in 2023 to schools in Punggol given there are more BTO or housing projects coming up? Schools that are within 1-2km to the new BTO are Oasis Primary, Punggol View Primary and Punggol Cove Primary. Those schools are rather new so we are not very sure how established they are by now.

Based on MOE FAQ:
The new home address can be used provided that you are able to produce evidence from the relevant authority that you have committed to the purchase of this property. In addition, you have to sign a letter of undertaking to move into the new property within two years of the child's entry into Primary One (P1).

The following is based on last year's (2018), you just have to add one to each number for the policy this year.
