This is no new ruling lah. You should only appeal if your child’s score meets the COP. Which I think is a good move in the right direction.

It's a specially requested cotton-polyester blend and it's good quality- supplied by Jeep Sing Fashion. Material is durable, doesn't get fluffy after repeated washes, quite cooling and doesn't really require ironing is hanged dry.Hi everyone! I am a new joiner to the forum and will like to check: do u iron ur child's school uniform? Izzit those jersey material or cotton/polyester type?
My son is 6 yrs old this yr and we are hoping he can get into Xinmin...

The school-based student care centre (SCC) in XMP should be open in 2017- Nonetheless NO SCC is supposed to conduct coaching or tuition- as MOE is very firm on this- it's a student care centre not a tuition centre. Schools must ensure the SCCs are run within the parameters. That's what I can gather from other schools with SCCs in operation. If you insist on your child being coached it's better to place your child in an external student care centre.angel07:
Hi parents,
There is a new student care centre - The A League open at Blk 435 hougang ave 8. Please feel free to go and take a look.
Hi, how's the student care? Anyone's kids there? Does the centre coach them homework and spelling? My child is currently in Joy Connection and I'm thinking of transferring her. -
RE: 2014 P1 Registration Exercise for 2015 In-Take
actually, why dun MOE segregate priorities base on religion?
In this system, we have Christians ended up in Buddhist schools and we have Buddhists enrolling into Christian school. I heard Buddhist's kids were told to bow their head during pray.
Won't it be good if Buddhists go to Buddhist schools and Christians go to Christian schools? Free thinkers will have less competition in government schools??
Absolutely not. Singapore is beautiful becauses the races mix and people of religions mix and respect each other. Kids learn to respect each other's religion in schools. Segregation leads to more problem. Look at Gaza! :xedfingers:
Agreed. this will three steps backwards for Singapore society. Will revert to 1950s vernacular schools. Recipe for intolerance, bigotry, chauvinism. Why would a Muslim tax-payer support a Christian school for Christians. Even super racist Anglican High cannot continue their CHinese Christian policy after Mr Moo died -
RE: Xinmin Primary
Apparently 55 out of 92 places for 2A2 taken up (based queue numbers given out)
That’s much higher than last year. Hhmm… -
RE: [Hougang] Primary Schools
I think if you withdraw, you will need to rejoin the queue.
The staff will serve those at the front of the queue, especially those who wants to get into the school.
If your turn comes after the cut-off time, then your child is stuck.
So don’t bother registering at Xinmin at all, if you think the other schools are better for your child -

I think if you live so near Xinmin but is not aware of its reputation as no nonsense then you'd better bring your Rosyth mentality elsewhereHi, Im new to this, i just have some enquiry due to my scenario:
1) Schools within 1 Km: Xinmin Primary- Is this a good school coz its not affiliated to the sec and forum seems to be not so positive on this
2) School within 2Km:
- Rosyth- good but have chance?
- Hougang Primary
- Punggol Primary
- Yio Chu Kang Primary
- Zhonghua
- Xinghua
Other than Rosyth, which should be my next choice? As Rosyth is my ideal but I realise I live in a different GRC, even though hubby went to join GRC, letter not valid
so now we do not have back up since this fall through.
Appreciate the recommendation, DD is going to register soon...
Thank you. -

HGmummy:
Hi all, i am staying opp. Hougang Green, within1 km from Hougang Pri. But my husband was an old boy from Xin Min Pri, so i am torn between the 2 schools? Any advice/comments from the helpful parents here about the 2 schools? My gal is due to register this July for P1. Thank you!
Then go for Xinmin, secure your husband's 2A2 privilege. I heard they are actively inviting parents to join the PSG, something your husband may be keen about. -

Thanks for the valued advise.
I think both are good neighbourhood schools. Factors to consider:Pen88n:
Hi, I am new here and my boy is going to P1 next year.
Would like to have some advice on the following school, Xinmin and Hougang Pri. very much appreciated.
1) Distance from your home
2) If balloting is involved, which has more vacancies and chance?
3) Your personal preference (should visit the school with your kid)
1. To compare distance: Hougang Pri will be nearest to me (i am Q'ing for Phase 2C)
2. Been watching the pattern of the MOE registration results... Hougang Pri seems popular.
3. To visit the sch, can we call and request?
Thanks again! :xedfingers:
Both Good Schools. Heng Swee Kiat said so.
But Xinmin discipline top-notch. So parents who like to pamper their children don't bother. The staff don't take crap from parents -
RE: Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools
Choose schools for the best fit between their approach towards character moulding and your own personal one. You’d rather have a child whose academic results is quite good and character good rather than results good/very good but character lousy. Not cut out for life.
Academic wise, only a few schools are suspect when it comes to academic programmes. Anyway, academic performance is more likely to be determined by genes and parents’ pockets.
