      Hi Mummies,

I am pretty new here and my gal is born in Jan 2013. I am staying near jurong point which is 1.56km from ruling but my mom is staying ,1km of rulang primary. Is it too early fro me to call the school for PV application? My 2nd baby arriving in oct 2015 so if my elder girl can get into Rulang would be good for both siblings. Please advice. Dunno if i should go and join some grassroots organization too to up my chances.
Firstly, if I am not wrong, most schools, if not all, including RL on takes in PV applications only one year before the child is due for P1 registration.

Secondly, you need to find out you chances based on past yr stats and decide if you still want to apply for the school you are interested in. For some very popular schools, after performing PV, still have to ballot. But many schools have cut down on the number of PVs they take in and some even scrapped the whole PV program. For RL, I have seen more than 200 interested PVs (from the application forms taken, a running reference number will be issued) and there are only 10 to 20 PV vacancies.

Next, comes the selection process. Only shortlisted applicants will be called for interview. The interview panel consist of 8 (department heads, principal, ops mgr, etc). By the way, they look for ppl with special knowledge, skills who can contribute. Examples as given in the application form: A) Someone who is knowledgeable in herbs, help to set up herb garden in school and share collection of books on herbs. B) Someone who is qualified in fire safety certification and can provide professional service to the school in this area.

HTH, just my 2 cents from what I gathered a couple of yrs back.

My kid will be P2 in 2015. Anyone has 2014 P2 portfolio file contents (assignments papers) to give away or lend me photocopy? Kindly PM me, thank you.

      Hi,

May I know if bpps gives the kids any placement tests/questionaire during orientation?

Nope. The kids are placed in classes at random.

Just to add (no offence to anyone though), even though PVs "can" withdraw halfway, have to consider that any withdrawal will not create great inconvenience to the school and students.

I am doing my PV now in a program to "help" some students assigned to me. However, if I were to withdraw my service halfway, the students will be left in the "lurch" and the school will have to find a replacement. In this case, I still have to complete my PV (or at least complete the "program’) even if decided to go for another school. In some situations, it is a "committed responsibility".

      Huh, politician? Zoe Tay? :scared:

I guess the person is a \"Tay\" but not Zoe, and not a female. 😉

I remembered many years ago I was also rejected being PV for FMPS as I'm staying more than 2 Km away.

Perhaps as a rule of thumb, super popular schools if you are more than 2km away, most likely kanna rejected. In this case, you should at the same time submit more PV application to scatter your risks.
      :rahrah:
Exactly what I thought so too when I got rejected in my application to the school that was more than 2Km away. Some schools have stated clearly that they only consider applications within 1Km, but it could be a \"hidden criteria\" for other schools.

I had thought of moving to within 1Km of the school (of our choice) only after upon being accepted as PV. So with this 1Km \"criteria, its impossible. Just don't make any sense to move to within 1Km then hope to be accepted as PV.

    • RE: worthwhile to buy lego from USA website?

Prices may be lower. But besides the support/warranty, you have to consider the shipping charges (depending on the weight of the items, whether shipping charges are based on volumetric weight).

Personally, its more worthwhile if its being hand-carried if someone happens to be travelling from US,

      Mummies

If your child is born in 2007 and applied PV in NYPS. Can update here if you receive any call from the school.
I wrote emails bur was never reply.

Yeah sure! So far didn't hear from them.
      Seems quite hopeless .. 😢

A few schools that I know of are not in a hurry at all in their selection of PVs, unless they need your \"volunteer work/expertise\" urgently. The PV application for most schools, if not all (if your child born in 2007) only closes in June 2012. For the new 2012 academic year, I think they have already assigned \"jobs\" to PVs (whose child is born in 2006). I may be wrong though.
Anyway, good/popular schools are spoilt for choice in term of PVs.

    • RE: Fear of pooing

Did your methods (all fruits, prune juice, pears, papaya, apples, probiotics and even lactus) help in softening the stools? Because you mentioned that its more of "physiological".

My toddler used to suffer from bouts of constipation. He would sit on the potty for more than an hour and refused to come up, keep telling us he needs to poo, to the extend he even dozed off a couple of times. We had to "force" him away from the potty. We tried all the above methods and did not seems to help much too.
