Does HCI offer third language in campus? Any idea if we opted in but decided to drop later, is it possible?

HCI offers MSP in campus. For the other third languages, lessons are held in 1 of the 2 MOE Language Centres. And yes, it is possible for your child to drop third language.

      DoubleConfusedMum:
Hi . Need advice please. DS is eligible for EESIS, 3rd language (cat1 to cat3). However, he prefers co-ed and is worried he could not cope if he is placed in top schools like HCI, RI therefore he is thinking of putting NJC IP as his first choice. Then his EESIS will not be used if it is not independent school. Sort of wasted. Should i let him decide his school of his choice?

If he goes IP then third language is not neccesary right??
      Hi DoubleConfusedMum,

Congratulations on your child's results! From what I can see, I believe he can cope just fine in schools like HCI or RI, provided he works hard and does consistent revision. I was in the same position as your DS last year, and I ultimately picked HCI. Not to worry about the EESIS, as NJC's school fees are quite cheap. Ultimately though, your son's decision is what matters, and I believe you should let him decide. And yes, third language is not necessary in IP.

Thanks for sharing the contact of the bus service operator.

Can any parents here also advise if the classrooms are air-conditioned? We happened to go for site visit yesterday and noticed that the military planes are frequently flying around the area with noise, so was wondering if these sounds would interfere with the classes. DS mentioned that when he went for Maths Olympiad at HCI this year, the classrooms they hosted the Olympiad were air-conditioned. So just wanting to verify here... appreciate advice. thanks.
      Hi wanxuan75,
The classrooms are not air conditioned for Sec 1-2 students. From Sec 3 onwards, all classrooms are air conditioned. Just to add on, there aren't many military planes flying around the area, so noise shouldn't be an issue (I study in a non air conditioned classroom)

seem like HCI environment is very competitive and not easy to get to the top 10%. From what I understand from my friend, getting an A1 for your maths and sciences is given or expected from you if you are in HCI. Her DS class is full of smart kids which score all straight As with msg 1.

      Hi UBKmom,
I'm a Sec 1 HCI student and I would like to let you know that getting A1 for math and science is not expected of you. It is because your friend's son is in SMTP. In order to even enter the programme, an MSG of <2 and A1 for math and science is required. This programme only admits the smartest students so this does not apply to every single class. I do agree however that getting into the top 10% is difficult.
