Hearing abt P6's Eng & Chinese CA stds makes me worried and these do not even include compo writing yet..

So other P3 classes other than 3R9 do not know any CA subject results yet?Understand that each class's papers are marked by teachers from other classes.

This yr's P4 cohort is super strong. We can take reference from them. If their results also follow similar pattern as the rest, then we know it's due to difficulty of paper. Let's console ourselves, hehe.

For last year p3 CA1, only 5 got B1. The school has to remarked the paper (more lenient in marking). My ds was awarded another 3 marks. Was a big shocked to me!

TTLT Math covers getting to know the ancient numbering systems, pascal's triangle etc. The more interesting topic is in the second half of the year which is on financial literacy which is useful to educate the kids on money.

I would recommend go for TTLT, as the kid can always join CCA next time.

My ds has decided to go for TTLT after speaking to a teacher. Thanks!

Math Olympiad training is open to anyone who is interested to take part.

My ds got selected for TTLT Maths…any experienced parents to share what does the program covers? Do the kids in TTLT get sent to participate in Maths Olympia program? Useful as DSA (of course provided that the kid does well)?

BTW my ds is reluctant to join as it clashes with his CCA which he would very much like to continue.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Thanks for the clarification. So starting P4, they’ll have math banding?
Yup. Math banding starts in P4. only those who got above 90% in P3 SA2 math can get into M1 class.
I think must be at least 95% or 96% to be in M1, because my DS had 93%, still M2.
Yes. My ds low 90s also in M2. And I think Maths banding only for the top 3 classes.

Just to share…I signed up for 10 days holiday abacus workshop with BTSC after positive feedback from Titank (and please do not misunderstand me, I am not upset with titank).

I had the same experience that my dd has to wait outside the centre and the air on of BT shopping centre is not on yet so really stuffy as her lesson is at 9.30am. I feel the teacher or admin staff shd be there at least 15mins before the centre opened. Also, teacher didn’t turn up for 2 lessons (although they offered us to at attend the 11am lesson instead). My dd is only 4 plus so it wld be too tiring to wait for another 1.5hrs…fortunately for us, my hubby waited with my dd when the teacher of another class said my dd teacher is on the way and asked him to leave my dd there…my hubby waited for half an hour till 10am …teacher still not here. When he pressed for an answer, the other teacher made a call and then told him that my dd teacher can’t make it for class. There was another poor kid (same class as my dd) being left in the class all alone all the time…she is also v young around 3 plus. My hubby was very upset and we did not finish all the 10 lessons. Frankly, if it was my dd being left in the class alone for 30mins, I would have lodged an official complain to the relevant authorities or MOE. I felt so sorry for that kid…

The branch manager called me to apologize but we decided not to continue.

Got a few queries about P3, can help? Thx.

      a) do they have overnite camps in sch or overseas excursion in P3?

      b) robotics seems hot. How do they choose pupils if demand exceeds supply? Actually I rather ds join guitar club, then he can entertain me at home.

      c) would there be banding for math/HCL? P2 doesnt have.

      d) any (non-exam focus) interesting programmes for P3ers?

      e) last, for the morning session, what time should the kids reach sch?
      Based on this year P3:

      a) there was a trip to Malaysia plantation at Johor (optional)

      b) not sure on robotics but the kids have guitar for 1 term during music lesson (so maybe he can still entertain you at home)

      c) there is no further banding for Maths / HCL for top 4 classes but shd be the same for other classes

      d) they have 10 swimming lessons after sa2. During the year they visited fire station and URA.

      e) think better to reach before 7.10am. Fyi, I noticed most school buses will be there around 6.45am..so if u drive then try to avoid otherwise need to queue to drive in...that's why we drop DS usually at 6.40am (plus he likes to be early)

      Hi titank

Did you eventually sign up your kids for apple plus monkey abacus? If yes, appreciate if you can let me know if you are happy with them. I am thinking of signing up my 4yrs old gal soon turning 5 with the main branch at BT Timah shopping centre. Thanks.

      Hi,

We signed up for one term in Perceptum. The class size was very large. My boy did not understand some of the problem sums solutions after each lesson. We stopped after term 1 ended.

We then signed up at Maths Hub @ Beauty World when it first opened the centre. The time slot had only my boy attending.

Did not continue this year as (1) I felt the centre was teaching in advance and (2) I thought it was not necessary to hv Maths outsourced since my boy has the HOD as his Maths teacher.
Thanks for your response. Appreciate your advice.
