      phtthp:
Reach home around 6.40 pm is possible -

if we're talking about existing location, from hillcrest.

But from mount Sinai (2014 and 2015) -
earliest time to reach your house around duchess avenue, is around 7 pm.

6.30 pm - is school dismissal time.

The fleet of long school buses plus all the mini van(s) school buses to remote areas - must leave the school compound by 6.45 pm, thereabout.
Hopefully, all the p1 and p2 students co-operate well, can hop onto their school bus, punctually & correctly. not hop onto the wrong school bus number. This happened before.

every school bus bears a number.
if there is any delay, school bus can't leave by 6.45 pm; searching for missing student(s) on board. Then All the private cars queuing behind, waiting to fetch their daughters home, will also be held up. Because that road from mount Sinai leading out to the main holland road, is very narrow. Vehicles have to move out slowly in sequence, like a snail one by one, to main holland road.

      Besides, around 6.30 pm -
P1 and p2 pupils from Henry park primary (hpps) very nearby, also going home, same time. There will be traffic congestion from these 2 schools, exiting towards holland road.
Hpps 2014 (p1 and p2) pupils also studying afternoon session, same as our p1 and p2.

Then once cars move out onto holland road, because is peak hour, the expressway also got traffic jam.

Btw, did you ask your driver whether your school bus is big one or is it a small mini van ?

Henry park should be single session, no more 6.30 dismissal.

    • RE: HCI as an "IP" school.

      rains:
I am also of the view that HCI should honour what it has promised ie. throughtrain to A levels.

I had a colleague whose son was in HCI and according to her, when she expressed concerns that her gepper son was getting Cs in his exams, the teacher assured her that a C in HCI is an A at A levels and an E at HCI is equivalent to a C at A levels.

What is the point of making exams so tough and putting boys who don't meet the yet-tougher standard into O levels stream? If this is not for the sake of having stellar and shine-till-your-eyes-hurt A levels results to show that HCI is comparative to RI, I don't know what is.

Those who got into HCI after psle would have scored high 250s. And you are saying that these kids can't survive IP. These are some of the brightest sparks among their cohort. Shouldn't HCI reflect or relook or review their curriculum instead of just labelling these boys as 'weak'? If these are 'weak', I shudder to think how HCI would see kids who score below 200.

Don't offer IP and stream 'weaker' students into O levels track. The onus ought to be on the school to polish these students into the diamonds they ought to be given their high entry point.

      Like!

I am not against a tougher exam but a tougher exam with a stringent promotion criteria and an exit if doesn't make it is absurd.

Is the students future or the P's own future more important?

There are 3 consecutive back to back first posts in support of HCI.....hmmmmm.

Stretching the kids is good but not to the extent of applying the fear factor from the first day of school. This adds unncessary stress and kills the joy of schooling. Also, be fair to the kids and honour the course that was offered. The kids signed on an IP course with HCI or any IP school for that matter. Whether they make it through A levels is their own responsibility and that of their parents. The school cannot change that deal and apply an attrition all for better A level statistics for the school. The school's role should be focused on preparing the students for the exams.

Why is promotion at HCI an average B4 grade, since when is promotion a B4 grade? Why must boys who passed the O levels with high aggregate scores leave the school? If they can get admission into another JC, why can't they stay on at HCI? The fact is HCI students sit for the same A level exams as any other JCs. Stop the obession of having good statistics for results and scholars or even teachers with doctorate. Don't pass the stress to the students.

Actually, students in hci who do well in their o lvls are also allowed to stay in hci if they meet the criteria like other o lvl students from other schools. If they meet the criteria, hve good cca grade, good conduct etc, I think that they will be able to go up to the junior college.

You missed the point. Precisely why only the do well ones. What happens to the not so well but can still make it to other JC? Is HCI implying that another JC can teach the students with not so well results better? If they are good enough to be accepted by any JC (the ones with highest aggregate scores), why not keep them in the same school that they are familiar with? This seems to be freeing up space to take in the ones with good O level results to boost A level statistics. There was a post in HCI confessions whereby someone (I assumed a student) said he was laughing when the P showed better A level results in the past year.

first timers' posts are credible too. they could be reading this thread for the longest time behind the computer and would like to allay any fears amongst worried parents or correct any misconceptions regular KSPs have. they bring a fresh perspective here...

Not if the accounts are newly created too. 2 accounts were just created on late 3 Nov and 1 on 24 Oct. Seems too coincidental that they are jumping in one after another.
