where covid year 2020 being the last batch of Tscore graduates, this apply !

Yes, as long as PSLE students have acquired the minimum A score (75 marks and above) in PSLE bu-hua Standard Chinese, when they go Sec 1, Yes, can take Secondary Higher Chinese (gao-hua), only in this affliated school, not in any other affliated school, because MS Secondary school's internal policy had overiden MOE Psle Eligibility letter

      Of course,
if the P6 students scored only grade B or below, didn't get grade A, then cannot lah !
With grade B & below, students can only take Secondary bu-hua, not Secondary gao-hua

      But, from next year onwards,

      Because

      No longer under Tscore anymore,
But go under the new AL system,
Not sure if this will still continue, under New AL

      Question -
Is your P6 son under the new AL batch, starting next year, currently 2020 P5 pupil studying inside this All-boys school?

      If Yes,
Please verify (confirm) with Chinese HOD (Secondary section), how they going to handle this, under the new AL points scheme ?

      And also,
      another important question,

Is there still affliation discount points exist, how many privileged points given (if any), under the new AL launching ?

Thanks phtthp. My child is only in p1 this year. I’m not too fussed up about the Higher Chinese eligibility, but I’m way more curious/ anxious about how affiliation will work out with the new AL system. I think that’s the top question on most parents’ minds :?

I’m wondering why the rate up rate for 2A is not as high as I thot. Isn’t this a popular school?
How is the turn out usually for 2B? Any chance if >2km for 2B?

Maris Stella High (MS) SAP school, should be a hot, popular primary school !

      Why ?

      Because

      Under the PSLE Tscore system,
throughout entire Singapore, this is the only Affliated Primary school, whereby

with an Affliation entry Tscore at 226,
as long as any P6 PSLE student have scored a minimum grade A (75 marks & above) in his PSLE Standard Chinese \"bu-hua\",

when these P6 graduates get posted back via MOE S1 posting in November into their affliated Maris Stella High (Secondary),

all Secondary 1 students can automatically take Higher Chinese, even if they have failed to fall within Top 30 percent of the entire PSLE cohort sitting,

      because

MS (Chinese department) had overridden MOE Eligibility HCL qualifying letter

      https://sis.moe.gov.sg/SchoolDetails.aspx?schoolCode=7111

Apart from Chung Cheng High, which other Secondary school's Chinese department is so thoughtful & considerate, to give leeway to Sec 1 students to study HCL, if they did not obtain MOE Psle Eligibility letter ?

      <Salute > :salute:
Maris Stella High (Secondary) Chinese department

      In sharp contrast,
Chung Cheng High (both Main & Yishun branches) do not accept any affliation

      https://sis.moe.gov.sg/SchoolDetails.aspx?schoolCode=7104

Hi phtthp, how did you know about this, just curious?
“all Secondary 1 students can automatically take Higher Chinese, even if they have failed to fall within Top 30 percent of the entire PSLE cohort sitting”

“ MS (Chinese department) had overridden MOE Eligibility HCL qualifying letter “

So basically as long as MSHS pri students score min A for PSLE, they can do Higher Chinese in secondary sch?

If don’t mind travelling, can try St. Stephen’s at 2CS, understand the objective is to get in a boys school with affiliation.

      Maybe Geylang Methodist Pri sch?

      Thanks Davis for the table.

What will could my best option be since all 3 schools will end up balloting. 😭😭😭

      1) acsp <1km
      2) sjij 1-2km
      3) acsj 1-2km
Option 1 or 2 - would be good if you know the applicant breakdown by category so that you can gauge the odds. Unfortunately not able to do so this year.

Option 3: highest risk cos may not even get a chance to ballot!

Recently there are more and more MRT stations next to schools. Maybe u can check some apps for schools near MRT? Yours is North-South line only? Bishan also got Circle line right?

Example: St Gabriel’s Primary at Lorong Chuan MRT?[/quote]
Kuo Chuan P is also quite popular in Bishan and they accept PVs too, not sure if you want to consider that as well?

Hi, am considering between Pei Chun and Hong Wen because we are in the midst of planning for our new place. Which school will stand a higher chance of getting to do PV? Hope to hear some views! Thanks!
Hong Wen only selects 20 PVs a year out of easily slightly over a hundred applicants. Not sure about the Pv selection rate for Pei Chun, but Pei Chun requires 80 hours.

I think Hong Wen and St Andrew’s may select PVs based on distance though not explicitly stated so. For Hong Wen, most are within 1km.

I can’t confirm for SA but below are the reasons stated for our unsuccessful PV application:
“Some of you have enquired on the school’s selection criteria, we would like to inform that shortlisting of PV is based on:
      - Alumni of SASS and/or SAJC
      - Distance between official home address and the school
      - Skills and services that parents have that meet the needs of the school “

      Hope the above helps!

Hi! Wow surprised to see this thread so early, will be registering my jan 2016 boy (a sheep not monkey technically) under phase 1 yay! We had just balloted successfully in phase 2c for my 2013 elder boy.

Great! 1 good ticket for 2 pax 🙂

Yes, now I’m really relieved to be able to sit back and relax after planning for no1. Phew. Jiayou and good luck to everyone else!
