Thanks Crystalline for sharing. I guess the difference is that you have indicated “no pref”. We did state our pref for O levels track only but was offered IP instead.

I asked the teachers who both responded that their decisions were made based on the student’s performance during the interview and his P5/6 academic results. One teacher further elaborated that the students who can put forth his opinions confidently, demonstrate how he applied what he said in actual examples and come up with relevant questions for the interviewers demonstrate higher thinking skills which are essential for IB track.
My DS did not attend any DSA interview preparation workshop. The questions asked were conversational topics e.g what would you do in difficult situations, how would you describe yourself in 3 words, what do you enjoy about your CCA etc. From what my DS shared with me, his answers were from his own point of view. Some of his answers I personally feel were even childlike and funny (though I did not tell that 😅), definitely not the kind of answers that had been carefully crafted to impress. He did tell me that he thoroughly enjoyed the interviews and that his interviewers were laughing along with him.
I am mindful that IB/IP is challenging and am encouraging my child to work hard for PSLE so that his PSLE scores are aligned with the school’s COP.
