Yes, results are for all classes including GEP.

273 most likely by Gepper but mainstream E/F is also possible.

apparently ... broad base lowering of t-score as compared to last years ... working on last year's COP for schools might be a bit difficult. need to look for previous years as well.

Agreed. My guess is the Highest T-score is 278/279 and hence all COP will be lowered by 3-5 pts across the board.

Is CCA compulsary?

Today they are having CCA fair.
How are the children supposed to choose their CCA's.
Do they need to choose them today at school?
Do they need to give second choice, third choice....?
What are the popular CCA's in NUSH?

To say CCA is not compulsary at all in any S'pore school is ridiculous statement. Children need CCA to balance up their study cum other interests, character and leadership developments.
But unlike other IP-School where students actually fight tooth and nails for certain chosen CCA, there is freedom of choice and the variety and range of CCAs is by no means fewer than IP-school . B'cos of the small cohort size, any students can take up any or (number) of CCA pertaining to their interest. The key is their time availability for CCA activities. The Y1 are given form to select a number of CCA with a priority of choice. I believe prior experience (school band, orchestra, robotic club etc) counts in certain CCA but and no one is deny a chance. You can even drop and join a new CCA in Y2/Y3. All CCAs are popular according to individual students like.

There are also special interest groups like Music and Arts ambassador (MA2), Student Council, Green Interest Groups etc which are only available in Y2 not to mention academic competitions which students are encourage to join. Students have no lack of CCAs or activities. With school works, group assignments etc some of them are simply overwhelmed.

Huh .. kind of remind me of earlier discussions about the standards/ teaching of English Languages and Humanities prormamme NUSH, let me said something about the MPP (Moot Parliament programme) - a Humanities Challenge programme by the Gifted Education Branch for all IP-School in Singapore.


In 2012 NUSH team 1 won the Challenge Shield (Overall Champions) and Best Opposition Team. At the same time, they also clinched the Best Speaker of the Tournament Award.

In 2013 Team 3 won the Best Written Bill and won the Best Bill Challenge Shield (first time for NUSH). They also won the Best Backbencher Speaker, the first time the award has been given out.

So the thought that the School English language and Humanities dept are lacking in standards or quality is not true.

2 things that you can say about those who still think NUSH is a pure Maths n Science School :

- The English language & Humanities dept can't be that slack since there are affiliated to NUS Dept

- The quality of the (intake) students are not just Maths n Science nerds but also strong in language and humanities.

Unofficially (from inside source) the NUSH COP seems to be 256 this year …


Normally the COP is at least + 1 point above EESIS for mainstreamer.

I heard RGS has 6 medalists for SJCHO 2013.

RI also successfully defended the SMO 2013 jr n senior titles.
I feel tt the core aim of NSC is to promote science amongst our s'pore teens. If the same sch keeps winning, the level of interest in this competition will dip. Maybe that's why over the years, less emphasis is placed on the buzzer round, and more on presentation n showmanship, to enable greater chances of victory for other schools.

You made a relevant point here. If not school like BPGHS would not have won twice. Judging by medalists for Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics Olympiads and looking at the national representatives for various international Olympiads (mostly RI and NUSH rep), if NSC goes by buzzer round only 2 school will dominate the NSC.

The prize presentation for SJCHO was conducted yesterday at biopolis. RI is the top team with 54 medalists, NUSHigh is 2nd with 51 medalists (which is really impressive considering the smaller cohort size) and HCI is 3rd with only 15 medalists.


The top 3 individuals for Theory are RI pupils.

Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to the science department for a job well done in guiding these RI boys in their chemistry pursuits!

So RI and NUSH with the most medalists are the two top notch Science school. I'm sure this will be about the same for the physics, maths or informatics Olympiads too. HCI only 15.

What about RGS ? HHmm they are less competitive.. or not even in the picture ..

When I said the National Science Challenge 2013 is so skewed (or screw-up ) in the format and the winning team is the least convincing team honestly, can do well in showmanship and presentation but where it really matter (actual maths and science open challenge), they are an absolute no no ... some folks here are not happy. :congrats: to RGS for winning National Science Challenge 2013!! The girls did very well, leading all the way. Final scores were RGS 49, RI 46, and NUSH 37.

Not leading all the way ... only the final score sure leading .. not very impressive with zero for bonus round and and zero for Rapid fire round .. not competitive at all ...
