      You can give a try using that method too, if you can get the same answer means its okay. But it seems you need to expand and apply trigo identities, abit more work. we always want to use the simplest and easiest method to solve a question.

      Sometimes pushing them too hard and send them to tuition will only get negative results instead. Especially when they have so much to handle in school besides academic studies.

      Understanding them is important, check with them why are they not be able to catch up with school work (e.g. if the teaching pace is too fast? or the teaching style is not good). Or they would like to have someone to ask whenever they need? I have students who are really stressed up when they have a tuition teacher just sitting right beside them, and they have to pretend they know what they are teaching so that they won’t look bad infront of them. that’s not good.
