Yes, is not easy to b a Teacher now a day, my son knock his head on the chair is bcos his classmates did not put her chair properly. I did not blame teacher for not taking care of them, is at least he injured, teacher can apply zambak for him.

If would be good if the teacher could at least check on the injury to make sure that it is nothing serious, no matter if the injury is self-inflicted or caused by others.

      Hi there,
My daughter also experienced the same thing and sometime no nap at all cos not enough time. I don't understand why she said no time to sleep?? I feel that at least 30mins of power nap is more than enough as my girl has to wake up everyday at 6am.
Anyway, I have wrote to Pro Teach regards to this issue, pending their reply. will share with you when they have replied.
      BR,

Hi tansan, yes, please keep us updated of Pro-teach's reply on the nap time arrangement. Thank you!

      hi,
Sorry for the late reply. The teacher, Janice frm Pro-teach called me on sat & explained. She said cos the children needs to finish their homework hence not enough time to take their nap. And for those who had finished, they will juz take a short nap on the desk.
She asked me if i want my girl to finish her homework or nap. In the end, i chose homework cos by the time my girl reached home, she will not hv much time to do her homework as she nid to sleep early.
The teacher oso mentioned the kids will gradually used to not taking nap. Sigh, guess i hv to go with the flow...[/quote]Hi Tansan, thank you for the update. I am planning to call up Pro-teach today, as my daughter had fever on Monday and she was very tired yesterday. I told her to tell the teacher to let her take a nap but she came back and said the teacher did not allow. I guess I'll have to talk to the teacher to let them know that when my daughter request to nap, please let her do so. She may not need it everyday, but on days when she is tired, I would greatly appreciate that she could do so properly. For me, i'd be happy to sit with her to do her homework when she comes back. I need to check through her homework anyway.

Thank you, parents, for your thoughts on the nap time.

I too, am fine if there is no nap time for after-school student care, but, if the centre is committed to having one, then I'd prefer that it is properly done, for the sake of the well-being of the children.

I may have gotten it wrong, but I thought the schedule when the children reach Pro-teach is: clean themselves and change, lunch (or lunch first then clean), nap, and then homework, and then the in-house programme.

And so, if the kids take too long to clean up and have lunch, there may not be enough time for a long nap time before it's time to do their homework.

I agree with cyranocrash that long nap time may not be absolutely necessary, however, a little \"rest time\" or \"tune down\" time for the kids to settle back may be very beneficial for kids at this age. Yes, inner peace.

Finnish primary schools have their children lie down and close their eyes to rest for a couple of minutes or so before their math classes begin 🙂 This is to let their little minds rest and tune out what they have been doing before that to get ready for new learning experiences.

In the same vein, it may be good if our kids could just lie down for 15-20 minutes, and rest their minds after a full morning of learning, so that there is some kind of break from school, and then continue with the afternoon learning session. Just my two cents.

My daughter goes to Pro-teach after school. We were told to get a sleeping bag for her on the first day and were under the impression that the tables will be cleared during nap time and the kids would sleep on their sleeping bags on the floor.

However, I think after the first few days, the kids were told to sleep sitting, i.e., sitting on the chairs and leaning their heads on their arms on the tables. My girl told me she can’t sleep well like this. Napping this way will be bad for her posture in the long run, this is also bad for blood circulation and will cause pins and needles on the arms and the legs!

I wonder if other parents have issue with this?

I called up at 3pm, was told that 70+ people have registered. The lady who answered my call was very helpful and understanding. She apologized for not being able to give a breakdown of the distances as applications are still coming in, she suggested calling the school tomorrow morning for the breakdown. She mentioned there are a mix of applicants, less than 1km, more than 1km, and also more than 2km. I suppose there are SCs and non-SCs as well.

We are registering tomorrow afternoon, keeping fingers crossed that there is no balloting and all parents can walk away happy!
