VooVoo:I'm not sure how the school works? some school I know will shift the kids based on subjects, as not all kids are powerful on 4 subjects.Given that your child is strong in Maths...I thought the school will still groom her via META class? No...?
Maybe the GEP screening helps the school to sift out kids who are strong in either Eng and / or Math...
I assume she did not attempt the screening...but the school will still rely on her school results right...

RE: Nanyang Primary
I would like to find out from other parent what the expectation is during primary 4?
I can see my DD has been quite stressful, recently she did not want to try the GEP screening test, I told her to give a shot just try for fun. She is weak in English but strong in math, always score full mark or close to full mark, but her English did not improve much, her Compo is quite weak, she told me she will not make it to the second round, at the end, I just let her to decide cos I don’t want to force her.
Last week, she told me her friends mentioning to her for those who make it to the first round but did not make it to the second round will go to a good class (HA Class) then the rest will relocate to (Mixed Class) in Primary 4. She was quite upset after hearing this. She asked me is that true? Why only those students can go to good class???
Is this school really emphasize/focus on selected students (HA class)?? Sometime I do wonder if I have made a right choice for my DD studying in this school…. She has no older sibling to seek advice.
If is not convenience to post your advice on the post, kindly pm me.
Really appreciate your advice and I want to help my child not to stress her up.
Thank you! -
RE: Nanyang Primary
Thanks for the reply!
I know some schools will give the students a form or get the student to write recommendation letter then hand in to the teacher in charge and for those that are selected will go through a interview, not sure about Nanyang about their selection criteria?
I find it more fair in this way rather the form teachers select the students they like. What about students having bad record, do they have chance to excel to leadership role, prefect etc? -
RE: Nanyang Primary
Hello parents
I would like to check at which level will they select students to be prefects?
Thanks!
