      Thanks, waiyean, and dreamaurora,

I can understand why NAFA is demanding, for them, not just only need the students wants to learn piano, I think the most important thing is that the students can perform well on the stage. For him, it is a valuable experience in his life.

I’m very appreciated for your advice.

Have you registered? The deadline for Jan 2015 enrolment ended yesterday.

The purpose of the aural exam is probably just to make sure that the child doesn't have any major issues with listening and singing in pitch. If your child has perfect pitch, that will also be identified during the aural exam.

We don't have a chance to register, they told me to wait until my boy is five. That is ok for us. He just has learned Piano for 4months. We are worried that he is too young to understand the exam.

      Thanks!

Yes, the youngest age they accept for piano seems to be 5 yo.
You can try when your boy turns 5 next year. He may not have to enter into prep class, maybe start from grade 1 then.

During the auditions, parents are allowed to sit in with the child. Instructions are quite simple. Afterall, they do take 4 yo kids into the violin prep classes, and they go through similar auditions too.
The aural exam in the audition is similar to the aural questions in ABRSM exams for the grade that you are auditioning for.[/quote]Thanks, Waiyean,

It is nice if he can start from grade 1, and at the same time, we can see whether he can keep the interests in piano. We don't want to push him hard.
So shamed, Before my boy started to learn piano, I even don't know what the ABRSM is. Thanks again for your information, I will search the related materials.

      Hi,

I am keen to enroll my boy in the piano lessons, he is not 5 years yet, when I see the SYT ad, it said that the kid needs to be prepared for aural exam. Just confused, he is starting to learn piano, what the content of this aural exam is, is it difficult for him?

      Thanks!

Why don’t you email the office to check details of audition? Requirements are different for different grades. If yours is for preparatory class, then likely just some singing.

Thank you very much! I emailed to ask about the audition, not so clear, it said listening skills, so I’d like to know how to conduct.

      Thanks, daddy2007,

My boy was born in 2010, so he should register in primary 1 in 2016, then study in 2017? so if i am confirmed as Executive Member before 30 Jun 2015, it is late, right?

As you are in pioneer, you can’t apply for the school in jurong under P2B via Grassroot route

You will need to be confirmed as Executive Member before 30 Jun 2015 in order to be eligible

      Thank you very much!

dear, all, I browse most of the posts, but there are some questions still confused.

under the new ruling, I can just apply the school near our house within 2KM, but about the schools, does the school need to be in the community at the same time. for example, we live from rulang school within 1-2 KM, I do the volunteer in pioneer community, but ruling is in the jurong community, do I still have the priority in the phase 2B to apply rulang school?

my boy register primary 1 in 2017, if i apply the volunteer service now, is it too late?

      Thanks!
