Still a long way Vicki!! In a few years time. Guess things may be very different then...
Hi Xinxin,
Which year are you registering? -

I see. Tks! I may consider MSH for my boy.
Phase 2B had 91 seats. Those 1km and 1-2km all got in. After subtracting those, only 67 seats left for those >2km. 74 pple fought for 67 seats so not too bad but still nerve wracking. 7 pple didn't get a seat. This was the first time MSH had to ballot for Phase2B. -

Hi cherrygal,
My ds just got into MSH at Phase 2B balloting... The rest of us chose to go to MSH in the end after weighing the odds and measuring the distance.
u staying out of 2km of MSH? How many vacancies were there? And how many of you balloted? -

May consider Holy innocents too. But thats a hot spot too!! And think serangoon is nearer for me.
If you are going to travel to serangoon, you might as well just try Holy Innocents? It's co-ed, SAP and has good feedback from parents. Think it's ok to try at Phase 2B. If not, the 2 schools u mentioned are quite alright though some parents feel OLNativity at Hougang is better than OLGC. A fren's son goes to St Gabs and he is enjoying himself. -

sure.Tks!! Just heard from my neighbour that his son is going there next yr. My neighbour brought him to recee a sch in TPY. When he saw the field, he asked his dad 'why is the field so small?' So, they went to St Gabs and his son fell in love with the big field, where many boys were running and playing football. Haha! Boys will be boys!!
hi xinxin..
i went to St Gab's open hse last mth.. the school looks fun n their P1 classrooms settings are very colorful n interesting.. there is an eco garden n the CCAs displays looked interesting too... i had the impression that it's a fun school, kids enjoy gng to school.. but academic wise, im not too sure as they don't publish the psle results on their web.
IMO, if u're looking for a catholic sch where ur kids can enjoy.. i think this might be fo u... when are you registering ur boy? can try calling the school n ask if there'll be an open hse next year or if u can go tour around... -
RE: Catholic Primary Schools
Wow, congrats to u and ur boy!! Im sure ur boy will love it at MSH!! And the whole balloting process must be a nerve-wrecking one i bet! So u r staying in Bishan?
Im now considering OLGC & St Gabs. Any input about these 2 schools? Ive been to OLGC and i like the whole school environment. But knows nothing abt St Gabs. Definitely not on the popular schools list but i dont mind…end of the day, i just want them to enjoy school and their friends. If they do well, its a bonus. If not, i wont sweat over it too. Important thing is that they must love God and hv EQ. -

I decided on a school first, which happens to be very near my parents' place. And tat school is not a catholic school. My mum can help me look after the kids after sch when me and hb are at work. Thats the pri reason why i chose to pv in that school.
But xinxin, if your children are catholics, you already qualify for Phase 2B, why do you need to do PV ? Does PV + Catholic qualify you for earlier phases ? If not, why don't you re-direct your PV efforts to other schools ?
I also qualify under catholic phase 2B if i decide to enrol children in Catholic schools. But i didnt choose to pv in those schools cos even the nearer catholic schools are still more than 1km from where i stay. Sigh!!
But being both a pv and a catholic certainly does not qualify me for an earlier phase.
Redirect? But think most schools hv closed applications by now... -

I'd want my children to go to catholic schools too. Ive always wanted that but because my kids are a boy and a girl, im worried about the logistics and also the distance. u'see, we probably wont stand a chance with the super popular catholic schools in AMK and Bishan cos out of 1km and the others are a little far for us. But I do have 2 catholic schools in mind though. Mind telling me where ur kids are studying now? For myself, i went to a co-ed non-mission school. I agree that as catholics, we should really enrol them in catholic schools.
I'm Catholic too and have a ds and dd. I prefer to send them to same gender Catholic schools. Partly becoz my family comes from a long line of people who went to such mission schools. I want to maintain the tradition coz I can see the good points. Definitely no neighborhood schools for my kids if I can help it coz I want them inculcated with Catholic values. Co-ed Catholic schools such as Holy Innocents I still can accept. Did you go to a mission school yourself as a kid?
