However, my concern will be (1) my dad is already in his 60s, so the daily walking under the hot sun to and from sch, which is equivalent to about 40mins per day, will it b too much for him? (2) what if its raining, we have to worry about the safety of both the young (my boy) and the old (my dad)?
i share your sentiments, addy08. My mom will be 66 by 2017 when my boy goes to P1. I will be driving him to school in the morning but as my office is almost 20km away from home, I can’t be the one picking him up after school, even if we were to be selected to join the day care provided by the school. So I have asked my mom if she can walk abt 900m - 1km daily to the school to pick him up and walk the same distance back… or take 2 buses whichever she deems more convenient… she said she’s fine with it, she can treat it as daily exercise…
so we did try to walk from our home to the school in the afternoon around 3pm on a fine sunny day… for a slow walk it took us abt 20mins to reach the school… then we tried taking 2 buses back home… the experience was ok… she didn’t feel too tired…
may be you can take your dad to have a walk to school 1 day… try on a sunny afternoon…
and since all of us (including my boy) love the school… I have told my mom to take cab to and fro on rainy days or on days she feels tired
