My DD got AL7, and we are deciding between NJC and SCGS as the first choice.

Any comments or experience to share with regards to the two schools? Especially for getting into a medical course in future?

Marks apart, it is encouraging that Science is easy and cancel off the maths paper. It is important that our kids see this PSLE as part of life-long learning journey, and that having an obstacle is not the end of the world.

Think this year, there were more discussions of students crying. My DD also have classmates crying when the paper ended. Generally, students don’t cry over 1 to 2 difficult questions. But if stuck at an early question, and ended up half of the paper not finished, anyone would cry.

This AL system is even more stressful. What used to be an A is split into AL2 & AL3. Students and parents unconsciously deem AL3 as not good, and everyone trying to get AL2. But it is still an A! During my time, getting an A is a happy thing! Now there is a new band of ‘not so good’ A! Adding extra stress.

The volume one is 2 marks whereas the triangle one is 3 marks

The triangle question is 2 marks as it is in Paper 1.

Paper 1 maximum marks per qn is 2 marks.

My DD said for the ratio question, it is part 2 of one question. Hence it is one mark. Part 1 is draw a triangle if the same perimeter, which is 1 mark. So both part 1&2 adds up to be 2 mark.

She said the parallelogram is 5 squares, and the triangle is 5 squares and abit. So depending on whether u round the bit down (1:1), round to half square (10:11) or round up (5:6). Think there maybe same inaccuracies in drawing the triangle, so hope moe accept all answers.

- what’s true about the hawker: wanted to promote hawker culture vs bonding
- what does aspiring hawker need to know: overcome challenge vs give feedback
