RE: Scholarships - Pre-University
Hi all
Just to check, for ESIP is that only given to student going into IP JC? If we select a non IP JC and although the o level result meet the cut-off, it will not be given.
Does anyone know the cut-off L1R5 for o level last year? -

RE: All About A Levels

If we assume that there are 10 students with the same raw and same net and all are citizens i.e. all things equal, how do we rank these 10 students such that the computer knows who to go through first?grownupbaby:
Just got some information from the school that the choice of option is also important. Said 2 singaporeans have the same point 3. Say 1st student put the school as first choice and the other put as 2nd choice. There is only 1 seat in the school, the 1st student will get the school. If both students put as 1st choice, then random selection. So confusing and complicated....
This can never happened if you understand the algorithm for allocating the students.
Say A & B have same marks, the algorithm will determine who comes first. If A comes first, the system will go thru the 1st choice to 12 th choice of A to allocate a place for him/her. After allocating a place for A, then it will move to the 1st to 12th choice of B.
In another words, if A ranks before B, it will exhaust all the 12 choices if A before proceeding to B.
So your scenario cannot happen & that hearsay has been wrongly passed down over the years. -
RE: Appeal Secondary One Posting
Just curious, for successful appeal cases, i thought that the students need to submit some sort of transfer form to MOE? Shouldn’t MOE stop/disapprove at that point?

RE: CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' Secondary
Anyone has statistics for the L1R5 average for this year? I heard that the girls did very well.

RE: Results of O levels for 2015 batch out on 11-Jan-2016

Wonder if there is still ranking internally in MOE. That is the lowest raw is 6 and there could be 2000 students with 6 and these 2000 all apply for the same JC....and the JC can take in 1000 students. How does the system allocate if all are citizens. This is assuming no bonus points deduction.
Could it be based on aggregate since each grade has a range, especially for A1?yuenyuen:
Just curious, I assume that there could be a lot more students with similar points unlike PSLE. How does a school select for appeal cases?
So 1000 students will not be allocate to this JC, and everything is based on ballot by computer?
