    • RE: Pocket Money for Primary 1

For a start, maybe I would strongly recommend visiting the school.

Most schools like my daughters have food priced for the older kids but quite close to the outside market prices which I cannot fault them as these stall normally operate from 6:30am to like 4pm only.

I have been to the school, felt like a GIANT and ate like one…trying out at least 4 stalls…rice, noodles, Muslim stall and drinks stall.

So for my dotter, I gave her $1 for drink (only 3 times a week), $2 for breakfast or snacks before school (I drop her off rather early, before 7am), $2 for daily recess, $2 for after school lunch. I usually pick her up at 3pm other than Thursdays at 4pm.

But I also ensure that she has emergency money of 1x $5 note + 2x $10 note as the school does not allow children to bring in mobile phones or have the mobile phones exposed. So I would not allow her to carry a mobile phone in the bag in silent mode but I do have a cardless mobile in her bag so she can buy a SIM card during times of emergency.

Furthermore, there are no coin public phones in the school, so I have to ensure that she can purchase a phone card or SIM card when she requires one.

maybe this man has mental problem.

But autistic is NOT mental. They are different. Pls don't get confused.
can any medical health authority professional kindly help clarify this fact ? TIA.

Autism is a disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior.
      - Taken from Wiki, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism

So it is OK for a person to go around pushing people off buses ?
      - If a person waiting for MRT train to stop, push her onto the tracks ?
      - If old person unsure of steps before stepping onto escalator, push her down the escalators ?
      - If a person at a traffic junction with green man blinking and do not want to cross, bash him up ?

Like that we can also claim serial murderers, serial rapist, robbers and probably politicians to have Autism ?
      - They usually have impaired social interaction and communication; being loners, too friendly, speaking out of turn or have extreme social lives.
      - Repeats their actions, or have the tenancy and desire to repeat.

Sick in the head is sick in the head....
I stay near Pathlight in AMK, I have never seen or heard of the kids pushing or hitting one for no reason. They may talk loudly or become excited...but never violent.

    • RE: dental visit at school gone wrong?

What kind of parents is this STOMPer Myra ?

Her kid was suffering from some form of tooth decay or mouth/gum infection so bad that the kid needed to have his tooth extracted and she did not even know about it !

Looking at the hole, it would have been the 1st molar or a fang which would have bothered the kid whenever he ate. I cannot imagine myself with a toothache.

Again, case of rich dad vs poor dad. If school have no dental facilities, then parents complain. If school dental services sends kids for private dental clinics, parents also complains.

If the this STOMPer Myra really bothers or could have afforded (time and or money), she would have wrote in to the school to have her kid assigned to a private dentist, or better still a private teacher, a private tutor or even to a private school. Maybe even a private country with a private army.

    • RE: is this considered mental problem?can it be cured at IMH?

Maybe is just a sign of being too lonely in a house too quiet. Some people just needs attention.

Or in my case a house too noisy with the Taiwan series blasting. They find it interesting that people quarrel all the time.

    • RE: different punishment for similar offence - why?

      zadrian:
I think the punishment was also for their crimes on top of their \"take rap\" charges.

One man was speeding - $150 fine + 6 points.

Other man was for running Illegal Internet Gambling + hurting Police officer.

How was this similar offences ?
Do you think if u were taking a walk then bash up a Neighbourhood Police Post police officer, the TP will fine u and give u demerit points ?

With apologies.....I read from the blog, failed to notice that there were mention of 3 cases, this thread is only about case 1 & 2....

Anyway, as someone pointed out....one was speeding at 95KPH, the other was beating red lights

    • RE: Website link and company name differs, is this common?

Well…for one blame it on the Internet Domain name squatters. They tend to book names then "sells" them for high prices.

Second, there are differences between company HQ name, company names, brand names and website.

Example (but I spoke to them and preferred not to be named)
XXXXX : A company founded in US - Corp HQ
XXXXX Pte Ltd : Cost Center for Sales in Singapore to support Operations in China, Europe and Japan.
XXXXX Limited : Production Branch office in Shanghai to support factories in China
YYYYY : Brand name of products

    • RE: Name in IC

      Hifive:
      Hello everyone

My friend's DD has quite a lengthy name in her BC, e.g.

Tan Hwee Ching (Chen huizheng), Lynda
I think she can use her dialect name for most purposes eg. air travel.
Internationally, names in brackets and after commas are sometimes considered to be as aliases.

Also, unless she is a Christian, having an english name after will not help much.

But I would strongly adding everything in when applying for Flat, using in title deeds, creating wills and applying passports.
If you look at it, in China, she would need to include her name in Mandarin Characters also....therefore less strokes better.

    • RE: Good food at Toa Payoh / HDB Hub

Sorry to ask, quite a few yrs back before the upgrading of Toa Payoh lor 1 hawker center, when it was still a 1 storey "open air" hawker center, does anyone know where the Malay stall that sells fried rice moved to ?

If I can remember correctly, back then, the Tian Tian fried prawn noodles was at the right side corner, facing the Phillips factory. The Malay stall was on the left corner of the same side, nearer to the 3 room flats.

Can anyone kindly advise if the stall is still around ?
      Thanks
