Hi, my DD is in sec 1 too. We just checked the class allocation. Thanks!

Zae, did they state how many classes are there in sec1 ?
Is the last class still \" L\" ?

During my gal's yr, allocation of classes alrdy made known during the day of reporting....
They even went to their respective classes n met their FT...

From class 1A to 1K, total 379 students.
Each class has 35-36 students with 22-24 girls, except for 1J and 1K with 28 students. As sg.angel mentioned, total is 379 in 11 classes. šŸ˜‰ (is it one class less than previous years?)
They will be reporting to school at 7.30am on Monday. They will start late at 1pm on Wed but the activities end at 8.30pm. Any idea what kind of orientation activities they will be having?

Hi All,

I am new to this forum and have been trying hard to \"digest\" the past postings here... There's lots to read in here. I am a father and my DD will be attending year 1 in DHS starting 2014...

FYI, the year 1 class postings is already out. Do go to DHS website to check it out.

Cheers!

Happy new year to all of you here.

Thanks so much for your sharing in this forum, we have benefited a lot in making a decision for our child's secondary school education.

Especially to Augmum,
Besides our observation and understanding of DHS through open house, your positive mindset and generous sharing in this forum has affirmed our decision. Thanks so much!

Looking forward to the new year in DHS! šŸ•ŗ

Today is the reporting day, does anyone of you knows the cohort size for S1 posting this year?

My DD said that according to the principal, it's about 380 this year.

Ya, the Principal mentioned this number!
He welcomed the new students by inviting them to stand up, then asked them to shake hands with their parents/grandparents who were sitting beside them to show appreciation for the parental care, support and guidance. :rahrah:

My DD will be in her 3rd year for Japanese
First year there are about 3 school buses from Dunman to Bishan
Now left with one bus
It is very much depending on self interest, my DD continue to score A for 3rd lang, so I will still encourage her to go on though time is the factor.
To help her up, I offer picking her up from language centre after work.
Thanks. It is really a big drop of students taking third language when the school demands get higher, I supposed. Great to know that you DD is doing so well!

Want to know more about choosing third language.

1. Are there many DHS students taking the third language? What is your advice about managing third language and school work?

2. In the S1 posting form, I noticed that we can only indicate one choice from each category. Does it mean if my DD's choice from that category (e.g., Japanese from third category) is not successful, she will be allocated her choice from another two categories that we indicated in the form?

3. Is there a school bus service from DHS to the language centre?

Thanks so much.
